  • Environment Officer Class 8 – salary ranges from $119,292 to $134,587 pa plus super

 

The Choose Circular team is seeking to appoint a Project Officer.

 

The Choose Circular program supports NSW’s transition to a circular economy.​ Our program helps to embed circular principles in NSW Government decision making, including procurement, and supports agencies in complying with Net Zero Government Operations Policy requirements to preference and report on products containing recycled material.

 

About The Role

As a Project Officer in the Choose Circular team, you will play a key role in advancing NSW’s transition to a circular economy by delivering targeted sustainability initiatives across government. You will support the design, implementation and promotion of projects that help agencies meet policy requirements and increase the uptake of recycled materials in procurement.

 

You will work across a range of stakeholders to deliver practical solutions in complex operational environments, ensuring programs achieve positive environmental, economic and social outcomes.

About You

You are an organised and driven professional with strong project delivery experience and a commitment to sustainability. You can manage competing priorities and deliver high-quality project outcomes.

 

You are an effective communicator who builds strong working relationships and collaborates with diverse stakeholders, tailoring your approach to different audiences. With an understanding of government policies and processes, you apply sound judgement and adaptability to navigate complexity and deliver successful sustainability projects.

Essential requirements

  • Understanding the workings of government (state, federal or local) and knowledge of relevant environmental legislation and sustainable practices.
  • Experience in developing and delivering resources and programs for a range of stakeholder groups aimed at building capabilities and changing behavior.
  • Experience coaching and mentoring stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
  • Background in program delivery, circular economy, environmental protection, or sustainability.
  • Degree in a relevant discipline and/or relevant experience.
