Lead delivery of South West Renewable Energy Zone by driving critical infrastructure projects to secure NSW’s future electricity demand

 

  • Ongoing fulltime role at 35 hours per week plus FlexTime
  • Sydney CBD office location & Hybrid working from home and office supported
  • Salary range from $129,464 to $142,665 plus super and leave loading

EnergyCo NSW is spearheading the transition to renewable energy to deliver clean electricity to the people of NSW as coal-fired power stations near closure.

A recruitment pool may be created for ongoing and temporary opportunities of the same role or role type that may become available over the next 18 months. Opportunities based in Sydney and other NSW Regional locations as required.

About the Opportunity
This role will be based within the South West Renewable Energy Zone (REZ) Project team. In this fast-paced and high-impact role you’ll lead and deliver complex, multi-faceted activities that directly support the South West REZ project priorities and community outcomes.

You will take ownership end-to-end project delivery across planning, governance, reporting, financial management and assurance, ensuring alignment with organisational priorities and regulatory expectations. You will also work with stakeholders such as TNSPs, South West REZ Access right holders and other energy market bodies.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Lead cross-functional coordination, aligning technical, commercial, regulatory and stakeholder inputs into a single, coherent delivery narrative
  • Lead delivery of major project gateway processes, including coordination of Gate reviews, assurance activities and decision-making packs
  • Drive project governance and reporting, including EnergyCo Board and PMO ensuring accuracy, timeliness and alignment across stakeholders
  • Own risk and issue management, coordinating inputs across delivery partners and ensuring visibility of critical risks at executive and Board level
  • Support internal and external assurance and audit processes (e.g. Infrastructure NSW)
  • Support in maintaining project costs and schedules baselines, tracking performance and proactively addressing variances

We currently have an immediate opportunity available and will also be building a strong talent pool for upcoming roles across a pipeline of projects.

About You
You are a highly capable and confident project delivery professional with experience managing large-scale, complex programs—ideally in infrastructure, energy, or government environments. You know how to bring structure to moving parts, balance competing priorities and keep projects on track without losing sight of the bigger picture.

You bring:

  • Strong experience in project governance, reporting and assurance
  • Proven ability to manage and coordinate deliverables across multiple workstreams, stakeholders and delivery partners simultaneously
  • Experience in project risk, financial and schedule management
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a focus on evidence-based decision making
  • Ability to bring structure to complexity, ensuring projects remain on track in dynamic environments
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to translate complex information into clear, actionable insights
  • Confidence engaging at senior and executive levels, with the ability to influence and drive outcomes

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.

Who we are?
The Energy Corporation of NSW (EnergyCo) is a statutory corporation established under the Energy and Utilities Administration Act 1987 and governed by its Board, appointed by the Minister for Energy.  EnergyCo is a Staff Agency employing all EnergyCo staff and is an agency related to the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW).

EnergyCo plays a pivotal role in the NSW Government’s Electricity Infrastructure Roadmap, which aims to transform the state’s electricity system into one that is cheap, clean, and reliable. As Infrastructure Planner under the Electricity Infrastructure Investment Act 2020, EnergyCo is responsible for leading the delivery of the State’s first five Renewable Energy Zones (REZs) and the first two priority transmission infrastructure projects (PTIPs), which are located in the Central-West Orana, New England, South West, Hunter-Central Coast, and Illawarra regions. We work closely with communities, investors, and industry to investigate, plan, recommend and coordinate generation, storage and network infrastructure projects.
