Our Water Operations and Resilience team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Project Officer.
This role plays a key part in supporting safe, sustainable and reliable water and sewerage services across regional NSW. The Senior Project Officer works closely with Local Water Utilities, government agencies and industry stakeholders to provide strategic and technical advice on infrastructure planning, regulatory compliance, drought preparedness and funding initiatives.
Projects may include assessing and supporting major water and sewerage capital works, monitoring regional town water supplies during drought conditions, securing government funding for critical infrastructure, and representing the department on regional committees and working groups. Joining a collaborative and highly skilled Water Utilities team, you will build strong relationships with councils and stakeholders while helping deliver long-term outcomes that benefit regional communities
About You
To be successful in this role you will bring
- Experience in water utilities, infrastructure, engineering, environmental management, project delivery or a related field, with an understanding of the regulatory, operational and funding frameworks that support regional water and sewerage services.
- Demonstrated experience working with local government, public sector agencies or infrastructure stakeholders, including providing technical advice, assessing capital works projects, managing funding programs and supporting strategic planning initiatives.
- Strong knowledge of water and sewerage operations, drought management, infrastructure risk assessment and government policy frameworks, with the ability to deliver practical and sustainable solutions.
- Highly developed stakeholder engagement, communication and influencing skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and translate complex technical information for diverse audiences.
- Proven project management, analytical and problem-solving capabilities, coupled with resilience, sound judgement and the ability to manage competing priorities in a dynamic environment.
