  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $129,464 to $142,665 + super

 

 

Our Water Operations & Resilience team is currently seeking to appoint a Senior Technical Operations Advisor.

 

As a Senior Technical Operations Advisor, you will play a key role in supporting Local Water Utilities (LWUs) across regional NSW to deliver safe, reliable drinking water and wastewater services. Working within the Advanced Operational Support team, you will lead and contribute to a diverse portfolio of technical and strategic projects focused on improving treatment plant performance, reducing operational risk, enhancing compliance, and building capability within council operations.

 

The role offers a highly collaborative environment where you will partner with water industry specialists, regional stakeholders, local councils and government agencies, providing expert advice, conducting on-site operational assessments, and driving continuous improvement initiatives that create positive outcomes for communities across NSW. The team values technical excellence, knowledge sharing, innovation and strong stakeholder relationships, providing the opportunity to make a tangible impact on the sustainable management of water resources throughout the state

 

 About You

To be successful in this role, you will ideally bring:

  • Demonstrated experience in water and wastewater treatment operations, with strong knowledge of treatment processes, drinking water quality standards, environmental compliance, operational risk management and best-practice water industry operations.
  • Proven ability to manage and deliver complex projects from planning through to implementation, including governance, procurement, contract management, risk mitigation, performance monitoring and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Strong technical advisory and problem-solving skills, with experience conducting operational assessments, analysing data, identifying process improvements and developing practical, evidence-based solutions to complex challenges.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement, communication, influencing and negotiation skills, with the ability to build trusted relationships and translate complex technical information into practical advice for councils, utilities, government agencies and other stakeholders.
  • A proactive and customer-focused approach, supported by high levels of accountability, integrity and professionalism, with relevant qualifications in engineering, environmental science, water operations, chemistry or a related discipline highly regarded.
