  • Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $149,739.00 to $173,174.00 + super (Clerk Grade 11/12)

The role

The Bays West Delivery Authority is charged with creating Sydney’s newest precinct, within 2km of the Sydney CBD.  A thriving, connected, sustainable hub with White Bay Power Station as its cultural heart and well connected by the new Metro West line. Its vision is to build on the area’s natural cultural and industrial history to shape a vibrant neighbourhood combining new housing with public open space and opening access to the waterfront for the first time in more than 100 years.

 

As the Principal Development Lead, you will manage end-to-end development projects, bringing together planning, design, engineering, and financial and commercial expertise to deliver outcomes that balance community value and government objectives. From securing delivery partners to managing risk, budgets and approvals, you’ll ensure projects are executed with precision, passion and impact.

 

This is a role for someone who thrives in complexity and combining commercial insight with delivery expertise and stakeholder leadership, and equally for someone who is excited to play a critical role in enabling projects that create housing, jobs and long-term value for communities across NSW.

What you will bring to the role

  • Extensive experience delivering complex, mixed use development or urban renewal projects
  • Strong leadership and commercial and financial capability to manage budgets, feasibility and value outcomes
  • Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and coordinate diverse technical inputs
  • High-level stakeholder engagement and negotiation skills across public and private sectors
  • Strong governance, risk management and decision-making capability
  • Commercial and strategic thinking that balances financial outcomes with social and community value
  • The ability to navigate complexity with confidence, making informed decisions that keep projects moving forward
  • Influential stakeholder engagement that builds trust, resolves challenges and drives alignment

 

Key knowledge and experience 

  • Demonstrated capability to work autonomously to achieve critical milestones while closely collaborating with team members to ensure best for project outcomes. 
  • Experience working on large construction, development and/or urban renewal projects in a senior capacity. 
  • Demonstrated hands on approach to implementing projects. 
  • Demonstrated capability in operational management and adhering to internal controls and governance used to deliver successful outcomes. 

 

Essential requirements 

  • Tertiary qualifications in property, economics, finance, urban design, architecture, engineering and/or project management and/or significant relevant industry experience.
