  • Ongoing Fulltime Opportunity

About the role 

As the Senior Project Officer, you will play a key role in driving environmental sustainability and climate resilience across sport and active recreation in NSW. Working within the Office of Sport’s Infrastructure Policy and Planning team, you will provide expert advice on sustainability and climate adaptation, helping to embed sustainable practices into operations, policy, and infrastructure. 

You’ll contribute to shaping future-focused sport infrastructure by integrating sustainability principles, supporting compliance with government frameworks such as Net Zero targets, and ensuring facilities and programs are resilient to climate change. This role offers a unique opportunity to influence outcomes that benefit communities across NSW while supporting a more sustainable future. 

 

Responsibilities 

  • Lead compliance with and delivery of sustainability reporting frameworks, including Net Zero Operations Policy and climate-related disclosures  
  • Provide expert advice on climate change adaptation, resilience, and sustainability across sport infrastructure and operations  
  • Undertake research and analysis to inform policy, strategies, and guidelines for sport and recreation infrastructure 

 

About you  

You are a driven and collaborative professional with strong experience in sustainability and climate change initiatives. You bring a strategic mindset and the ability to translate complex environmental challenges into practical, actionable solutions. 

 

Key knowledge and experience 

  • Demonstrated experience in leading sustainability projects in the context of Net Zero emissions targets, climate change adaptation and the development of policy, strategies and guidelines. 
  • Experience engaging with the sport and active recreation sector and/ or government sector. 
  • Knowledge of, and experience working with, operational challenges within a sustainability setting 
  • Proven experience in the field of sustainability and/or climate change adaption.
