  • Shape how NSW’s sporting stories are preserved, celebrated and shared as Curator of the iconic NSW Hall of Champions.
  • Ongoing part-time opportunity, 3 days per week.
  • Based on site at Sydney Olympic Park.
  • Salary relative to experience, ranging from $101,904 to $121,845 + super, pro rata for part-time hours.

 

As the Curator for the NSW Hall of Champions, you’ll shape how the stories of NSW sporting greats are cared for, interpreted and experienced by the community. This is work that matters — preserving the legacy of athletes and sporting moments that have helped shape our state, while creating engaging displays that connect visitors with the history and spirit of Sydney Olympic Park.

 

In this role, you’ll manage and maintain the Hall of Champions collection, develop high-quality exhibitions and displays to museum standards, and support the annual Hall of Champions Induction Ceremony. You’ll balance the needs of stakeholders, protect the integrity of important historical artefacts, and ensure the collection remains accessible, meaningful and secure for future generations.

What you’ll bring to the role:

  • Experience in a similar curatorial, museum or exhibitions role, including producing high-quality exhibitions to museum standards.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to share ideas clearly and collaborate effectively with colleagues, partners and stakeholders.
  • Excellent research, writing and attention to detail, particularly in preparing exhibition content and accurate biographical information about athletes.
  • Strong organisational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritise work and deliver within agreed timeframes and budgets.
  • Confidence engaging with diverse stakeholders and building productive relationships to support shared outcomes.
  • The ability to work with autonomy, take initiative and make sound decisions.
  • A sound understanding of collection management principles for museums and historical collections.

 

Essential requirements:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications and/or experience in museums, cultural heritage, or caring for and maintaining historical collections.
  • Current driver’s licence.
  • A Working with Children Check. This role has been identified as requiring a check in keeping with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012.
  • Willingness to work across various sites within Sydney Olympic Park.
