Do you want your work to make a difference for NSW?
Working to protect the state’s environment and heritage.
Do you want your work to genuinely matter? At the National Parks & Wildlife Service, you’ll have the opportunity to connect people to nature, culture and Country while helping protect it for future generations.
We’re looking for a passionate and driven Discovery Coordinator to lead the planning and delivery of engaging Walks, Talks and Tours programs. In this role, you’ll create meaningful visitor experiences that showcase the unique natural environments and rich Aboriginal cultural heritage of NSW National Parks.
This is a rare opportunity to combine people leadership, program coordination, tourism development and environmental stewardship in a role where no two days are the same.
About the role
Imagine a role where your work doesn’t just sit behind a desk, it comes alive in national parks, on walking trails, in cultural stories and in unforgettable visitor experiences. As a Discovery Coordinator with the National Parks & Wildlife Service, you’ll play a pivotal role in bringing nature and Aboriginal cultural heritage to life through engaging Walks, Talks and Tours programs. You’ll lead the design, delivery and promotion of immersive visitor experiences that connect people with the rich natural and cultural landscapes of NSW, while ensuring these programs are sustainable, safe and commercially viable.
In this dynamic position, you’ll coordinate the full lifecycle of Discovery programs, from concept development and marketing through to delivery, evaluation and continuous improvement. You’ll lead and inspire a diverse team of staff, volunteers and Aboriginal Discovery Rangers and Guides, fostering a positive, inclusive and high-performing environment. You’ll also collaborate with tourism partners and commercial operators to grow participation, strengthen visitor engagement and create innovative, packaged experiences that showcase our parks to broader audiences.
Your day-to-day work will blend creativity and coordination, whether that’s developing educational programs, managing rosters and budgets, reviewing program performance or ensuring all activities align with safety, environmental and cultural protocols. With a strong connection to Country at the heart of everything you do, you’ll ensure that programs are delivered with cultural respect and authenticity, particularly in relation to Aboriginal heritage and storytelling.
About You
You’re a motivated and organised professional who brings experience delivering engaging programs or tours, along with strong coordination and administrative skills. You thrive in roles where you can manage multiple priorities, from scheduling and budgeting through to supporting your team and ensuring high-quality visitor experiences. You’re a confident communicator who can connect with diverse audiences, build relationships with tourism partners and promote programs that attract and engage visitors.
You lead with integrity and enthusiasm, enjoying the opportunity to mentor and support staff and volunteers while fostering an inclusive and collaborative environment. With a genuine appreciation for the natural environment and Aboriginal cultural heritage, you approach your work with respect, curiosity and a commitment to safety, sustainability and continuous improvement.
Most importantly, you’re driven by the chance to make a meaningful impact creating experiences that inspire others to value and protect NSW’s natural and cultural landscapes.
