We are looking for a Business Advisor to join our Business Advisory team at the Department of Climate Change, Energy, the Environment and Water (DCCEEW). This is an exciting opportunity to work closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, providing expert financial advice, reporting and analysis that supports business performance and strategic decision-making.

 

About the role
As a Business Advisor, you will partner with business leaders to understand their priorities, identify opportunities and risks, and deliver solutions that contribute to organisational success. You will play a key role in budgeting, forecasting, management reporting, financial analysis and business improvement initiatives, while building strong relationships with stakeholders across the department.

We are seeking someone who is proactive, relationship-focused and thrives in a fast-paced environment. You will be comfortable managing competing priorities, working both independently and collaboratively, and translating complex financial information into practical business insights that support informed decision-making.

 

About You

You are a curious and motivated finance professional with a positive mindset and a willingness to learn. You enjoy working collaboratively, building strong stakeholder relationships and delivering high-quality outcomes.

You will bring:

  • Experience in budgeting, forecasting, financial reporting and financial analysis.
  • Strong analytical skills, a customer-focused approach, and the ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Demonstrated stakeholder management skills, with experience working across multiple business areas and balancing competing deadlines and priorities.
  • Experience identifying and delivering finance-related initiatives in partnership with stakeholders to improve business performance and support organisational objectives.
  • Strong problem-solving skills, with the ability to navigate complex situations and provide practical and effective solutions.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience using financial systems such as SAP. Experience with MWZ, PRIME, CM9 and CM10 will be highly regarded.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in Accounting, Finance or a related discipline.
  • Eligibility for membership of CPA Australia or Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand (CA ANZ).
