About the role

The Office of Sport is seeking a highly motivated Privacy and Compliance Officer to play a key role in strengthening privacy, compliance and governance practices across the organisation. Reporting to the Manager, Executive & Ministerial Support, you will provide expert advice on privacy obligations, support compliance with legislative and whole-of-government requirements and contribute to the delivery of quality governance and executive support services.

You will help ensure the Office of Sport maintains strong privacy, data governance and risk management practices while supporting our purpose of enabling all people across NSW to experience the benefits of sport and active recreation.

 

Responsibilities

  • Provide expert advice and guidance on privacy legislation, compliance obligations and governance requirements across the organisation.
  • Develop, maintain and improve privacy, compliance and data governance frameworks, policies and procedures.
  • Monitor and report on privacy, compliance, audit, risk and data breach activities to meet organisational and regulatory requirements.

 

About you

You are a confident and solutions-focused governance professional with experience interpreting legislation and providing practical advice in complex environments. You have strong stakeholder engagement skills and can build trusted relationships while influencing positive outcomes across diverse business areas.

 

Essential Requirements

  • Demonstrated experience in privacy, governance, compliance or related disciplines, with a strong understanding of privacy legislation.
  • Strong ability to interpret and apply privacy legislation and policy and provide practical, outcome-focused advice across the organisation.
  • Proven stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, with the ability to influence, negotiate and build trust across diverse business areas.
  • Excellent communication skills, including the ability to present complex information in a clear and accessible manner.
  • Sound judgement, critical thinking and problem-solving skills, with a focus on achieving positive organisational outcomes.
