We're looking for an experienced Senior Energy Emergency Management Officer to help lead NSW's all-hazards energy emergency management capability and protect the essential services communities rely on.

About the role
Lead emergency preparedness, response and recovery activities across electricity, gas, liquid fuels, water and wastewater, providing expert advice during incidents and coordinating with government, emergency services and industry partners. This is a hands-on role where you'll solve complex problems, represent the Department during emergencies and mentor other team members.

You'll work with a high level of autonomy and participate in the Energy Emergency Management Duty Officer roster (approximately one week in every five to six), requiring flexibility to respond at short notice. Based in Parramatta, you'll generally work in the office three days a week, with additional attendance during emergency activations, exercises and operational activities.

About You
You're an experienced emergency management professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment. You can think on your feet, communicate confidently with stakeholders at all levels and remain calm when managing complex or high-pressure situations.

You'll bring experience across emergency preparedness, response and recovery, along with an understanding of how disruptions to essential services affect communities. Knowledge of AIIMS and NSW emergency management arrangements will be highly regarded. You'll also enjoy working in a supportive, collaborative team where everyone contributes to making a difference.

Essential Requirements

  • Tertiary qualification in energy and/or emergency management or other related field or equivalent experience managing complex operational or emergency management environments.
  • Ability to be a part of a 24/7 on call roster, with potential of short notice deployments and activation to support emergency operations.
  • Full driver’s license.
