The Water Group leads the NSW Government in providing confidence to communities and stakeholders with the transparent stewardship of water resources, provision of services and reforms that support sustainable and healthy environments, economies and societies across NSW.
The Water Group is seeking to appoint a Principal Technical Officer Snowy Water Licence in a full-time temporary basis to 30 June 2028.
About You
The role provides technical water expertise, knowledge and advice relating to the Snowy Hydro Scheme to support NSW decision‑making, policy development and regulatory oversight. The role supports the delivery of NSW obligations under the Snowy Water Licence, the Snowy Water Inquiry Outcomes Implementation Deed and related legislation and intergovernmental agreements by providing expert technical leadership, analysis and advice on Snowy Scheme operations, environmental water management and water resource management in the Murray and Murrumbidgee valleys.
Knowledge & Experience
- Extensive knowledge and experience in one or more of the following disciplines:
- Hydrology, water resources management, water resource accounting, river operations with a preference for application in relation to the Snowy Hydro scheme, Murray or Murrumbidgee Rivers.
- Extensive knowledge of and experience in conducting complex water resource investigations, analysis and decision making.
- Detailed understanding of the Snowy Hydro Scheme and governing deeds and legislation relevant to the Snowy Scheme and southern connected systems.
Essential Requirements
- Degree in hydrology, water resource management, hydraulic engineering, relevant applied sciences or related discipline.
- Australian drivers’ licence.
