About the role

National Parks and Wildlife Service (NPWS) has two unique opportunities for Team Leader Caves to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.

As the Team Leader Caves, you will be responsible for managing the operations of designated caves precincts, including coordinating visitor services; marketing and promotion of the precinct as a tourist attraction; conservation of the karst qualities and values; and the management of essential services infrastructure, including water, sewerage and power supply at the site. The role also oversees the conservation of the natural and built environment of the precinct and ensures the efficient financial management of the cave’s precinct facility.

This role also manages the community and stakeholder engagement, strategic and operational planning, environmental assessment, works development, programming and supervision, contract management, preparation of grant applications and administration of relevant external and internal grants and management of Caves staff.

 

 

About You

As successful candidate you will have demonstrated experience managing complex visitor or tourism facilities, including responsibility for operations, asset maintenance and service delivery. Experience in customer service and providing high quality visitor experiences is key to the role.

 

Knowledge and experience

  • Experience in financial and human resource management, including staff supervision
  • Experience in business planning, operations and development and tourism and marketing.
  • Experience managing tourism facilities with accommodation in sensitive heritage settings, including responsibility for operations, maintenance and service delivery

 

Essential requirements

  •  Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent

 

Desirable experience/qualifications

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications in environmental science, natural resource management, park management, tourism management or a related discipline, or equivalent demonstrated experience.
  • Demonstrated experience managing complex visitor or tourism facilities, including responsibility for operations, asset maintenance and service delivery.
