Our Strategic Policy and Cabinet team is currently seeking to appoint a Policy Officer to support the development and delivery of strategic policy initiatives that influence government decision-making and drive positive outcomes for the people and environment of NSW.

As a Policy Officer in the DCCEEW Cabinet team, you will play a key role in supporting the Department's strategic priorities by researching, analysing and coordinating policy advice for senior executives, Ministers and Cabinet. Working in a high-performing and collaborative team, you will contribute to a diverse range of policy projects, Cabinet processes and emerging strategic issues across DCCEEW's broad portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to engage with complex policy matters, work closely with stakeholders across government, and provide evidence-based advice that informs critical decisions. The team is agile, supportive and fast-paced, offering exposure to senior leaders and opportunities to develop your policy, stakeholder engagement and project delivery skills.

About You
You are an experienced policy professional with a knowledge of government and parliamentary processes who thrives in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. You bring demonstrated experience in developing, coordinating or delivering policy, program or project outcomes and have strong analytical skills that enable you to research complex issues, identify risks and opportunities, and provide evidence-based recommendations. Your ability to think critically, exercise sound judgement, and navigate competing priorities allows you to deliver high-quality outcomes within tight timeframes.

You are an effective communicator who can translate complex information into clear and concise advice for a range of audiences. With strong stakeholder engagement and relationship management skills, you build productive partnerships across teams and organisations to support collaborative policy development and informed decision-making. You are adaptable, resilient and proactive, enjoy working as part of a high-performing team, and are committed to fostering a positive and inclusive culture while contributing to strategic outcomes for the Department and the people of NSW.

Essential Requirements 

• Experience in delivering and coordinating advice on policy, programs or projects.
