The Opportunity

Shape how DPHI connects with the people and communities of NSW. As Director Media, Communications and Engagement, you will lead the Department’s media, communications and community engagement functions, providing trusted counsel on complex and high-profile matters. You will guide integrated strategies that support government priorities, strengthen public confidence and clearly communicate the work shaping vibrant places, diverse housing and thriving communities across NSW.

This is an opportunity to lead a talented communications team, influence decisions at the highest levels and build strong relationships across government, media, industry and the community. You will create an inclusive and collaborative environment where people are valued, ideas are heard and capability can grow, while helping DPHI deliver meaningful outcomes for NSW.

About you

You are an accomplished communications leader with extensive experience providing authoritative media and strategic communications advice to senior executives and ministerial stakeholders. You bring sound judgement, political awareness and a proven ability to anticipate reputational risk, manage contentious or crisis issues and translate complex information into clear, compelling messages for diverse audiences.

You are a collaborative and inclusive leader who builds trust, influences with credibility and inspires people around a shared purpose. With exceptional writing skills and experience delivering major communications and engagement strategies, you remain calm under pressure, act with integrity and create the conditions for your team to thrive. You will also be available to respond outside normal working hours when required.
