Join the Development Coordination Authority and use your transport and traffic expertise to help shape some of NSW’s most significant development and infrastructure projects. This is an integral role in the Transport Advisory team, part of the newly established Development Coordination Authority. 

Working alongside passionate planning professionals, you’ll provide trusted advice that influences how communities grow, balancing transport performance, safety and accessibility while turning complex analysis into practical solutions. 

From major developments to strategic planning initiatives, you’ll lead high-quality assessments, guide key decisions and help create better-connected places for the people of NSW.

To be successful in this role, you will bring:  

• Advanced knowledge of transport planning and traffic engineering principles relevant to development assessment, including traffic impact assessment, network performance analysis and multi-modal transport integration

• Demonstrated experience in reviewing and interpreting transport modelling outputs and methodologies, including intersection and strategic modelling approaches. 

• Strong understanding of the NSW planning and assessment system, including DA, SSD, SSI, planning proposals and State Significant Rezoning processes. 

• Demonstrated experience assessing impacts on transport network performance, safety, capacity and accessibility, and identifying infrastructure constraints and upgrade requirements. 

• Proven ability to identify and manage interfaces with TfNSW and other infrastructure agencies, including State network impacts and statutory considerations. 

• Experience translating complex technical analysis into clear, defensible and practical planning advice for decision-makers. 

• Leadership capability and a continuous improvement mindset, with experience mentoring teams, strengthening technical governance and driving consistent, high-quality service delivery. 

Essential requirements  

• Tertiary qualification in transport planning, civil engineering or a related discipline, or equivalent professional experience. 

• Demonstrated senior-level experience in applying modelling, analytical and advisory expertise to complex planning, development and infrastructure proposals. 

• Eligibility for professional recognition or registration as an engineer is desirable, where relevant to the role and the department’s workforce requirements.
