About the Team

 

In the Aboriginal Initiatives team, Project Officer roles will assist the EPA to effectively engage with Aboriginal communities and improve its understanding of Aboriginal cultural values to strengthen its regulatory role to protect the environment. You will be part of a team and an agency that is committed to increasing the employment of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander staff across the EPA.

 

About the role

 

We have an exciting opportunity available for a Project Officer to join the NSW EPA.
You will be undertaking project management and support activities to contribute to the development and delivery of a range of projects that support enhanced environmental regulatory outcomes.

 

About You

 

You will be knowledgeable and have experience in understanding Aboriginal cultural values and heritage and working with Aboriginal people. Proven experience in end-to-end project management, effective engagement and the ability to network across various areas of government.
You have a passion and conviction to achieve outcomes for the environment and Aboriginal people. You do not need to be an expert in environmental matters and regulation but will be curious to learn more about what the NSW EPA does to protect human health and the environment. You are a team player always ready to roll your sleeves up and jump in when a job needs to be done, no matter how big or small.

Essential Requirements:

 

This is an Identified role under Section 14d of the Anti-Discrimination Act 1977 and as such Aboriginality is
• an essential requirement of the role.
• Aboriginal identified positions are developed where Aboriginal identity, cultural knowledge or connections
• are a genuine aspect of the role. Positions are specifically noted under the provisions of the NSW Anti-discrimination Act (1977) for Aboriginal people who meet the following criteria:
o is of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander descent, and
o identifies as an Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander person, and
