- Based in the beautiful Glenn Innes, in the New England area of NSW and less than 3 hours to the Coffs Coast.
- Salary relative to experience ranging from $76,439 up to $118,066 pa employer's contribution to superannuation and 17% loading for working weekends and public holidays
About the role
National Parks and Wildlife Service has a unique opportunity for a Ranger to work as part of the team and contribute towards the conservation of the natural environment, flora, fauna and Aboriginal heritage.
As a Ranger, you will help protect and conserve the natural, historic and Aboriginal heritage values of parks and reserves.
This diverse role combines project management, environmental assessments, stakeholder engagement, field operations, and emergency response activities.
Working across both office and field environments, you'll contribute to conservation programs, visitor management, fire management, and the sustainable stewardship of some of NSW's most valued landscapes and cultural sites.

About you
This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional seeking to apply and further develop their expertise in environmental management, conservation, natural resource management, ecology, geography, cultural heritage, or a related discipline. You are passionate about protecting and enhancing natural and cultural heritage values and have a demonstrated ability to contribute to the delivery of complex environmental and conservation outcomes.
You are a collaborative and relationship-focused professional who enjoys working with diverse stakeholders and building strong partnerships with local communities, Aboriginal groups, volunteers, landholders and government agencies.
Equally comfortable in the field and in project planning environments, you bring practical experience in delivering environmental or heritage initiatives, managing competing priorities and contributing to evidence-based decision-making.
Motivated by the opportunity to make a tangible difference to regional landscapes and communities, you are looking for a role where your experience, judgement and commitment can contribute to meaningful environmental and cultural heritage outcomes, while continuing to broaden your professional expertise across a diverse range of projects and activities.
Essential requirements
- A degree or equivalent relevant to the field operations of the Agency.
- Current Australian Class C Drivers licence or equivalent and ability to operate four-wheel-drive vehicles.
- Required to obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
- Willingness to fly in light aircraft and preparedness and ability to be involved in incident management duties including firefighting.
This is a physically active role suited to candidates of all genders who are fit, enjoy working outdoors as part of a team, and are eager to learn and develop the skills and qualifications needed to contribute toward improving and maintaining some of NSW’s most precious natural places. Applicants must meet the requirements of a specific medical assessment which is inclusive of a clearance to undertake the fitness test for firefighting fitness roles (i.e. moderate level Task-Based Assessment for Firefighters) within the 12-month probationary period, if relevant.
The role holder must obtain certification at the appropriate level prior to undertaking firefighting/incident control duties.
