We are seeking a Coxswain grade 1 near coast qualified Services Officer (Maintenance) to join our Milson Island Sport and Recreation Centre and Broken Bay Sport and Recreation Centre.
The Service Officer (Maintenance) role is ideal for candidates with hands‑on maintenance skills who enjoy variety in their day-to-day work including minor repairs and maintenance to Centre facilities, vessel operations and providing logistical support for water access-only locations.
Casual pay rates starting from $33.43 per hour, plus casual loading and 12% superannuation
About the role
As a Service Officer (Maintenance), working as part of a collaborative team, you will help ensure our facilities, grounds, equipment and vessels are maintained to a high standard, providing a safe, welcoming and enjoyable experience for our guests. No two days are the same. From carrying out preventative maintenance and repairs to transporting supplies and supporting vessel operations, you'll contribute directly to the smooth running of our unique island-based centres.
These casual positions have been established to provide coverage during periods of staff leave and to support increased operational demands during peak booking periods.

About you
We are looking for someone who enjoys practical, hands-on work, takes pride in maintaining facilities, and thrives in a dynamic environment.
To be successful, you will bring:
- A current Class C Driver Licence.
- A current Coxswain Grade 1 Near Coastal Certificate and relevant maritime experience.
- Experience in both planned and reactive maintenance across facilities, grounds, buildings, plant and equipment.
- Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- A commitment to workplace safety and maintaining high standards of presentation.
- The flexibility to adapt to the varied demands of working in a water access-only location.
- The physical capability to undertake manual tasks, including transporting supplies, equipment and customer luggage.
Essential Requirements
- You will be required to obtain and maintain a Current Working with Children Check (WWCC) Clearance in accordance with the Child Protection (Working with Children) Act 2012
- Satisfactory completion of a pre-employment medical assessment prior to commencing duty and a hearing test (audiometric test) within 3 months of starting employment (baseline test) and a follow-up Hearing test at least every 2 years.
All appointments are subject to reference checks. Successful candidates will also be required to complete a National Criminal History Record Check in accordance with the Disability Inclusion Act 2014.
To be eligible for this position, you must be an Australian or New Zealand citizen, a permanent resident, or hold a valid Australian working visa for the duration of the appointment. Any offer of employment will be subject to a satisfactory National Police Check and Pre-Employment Health Assessment. You will also need to arrange a Working with Children Check, at your own expense
