The role
As the Group Leader, Property Management, you'll lead a multidisciplinary team responsible for the stewardship, management, and sustainable use of Crown land assets. From property and asset management to land use planning, environmental management, and stakeholder engagement, you'll drive outcomes that deliver lasting benefits for communities, the environment, and the State.
What You'll Be Doing
- Shape the future of Crown land Lead the effective management of a diverse portfolio of land, assets, and natural resources, ensuring sustainable and responsible stewardship.
- Inspire and lead a high-performing team Provide leadership, coaching, and specialist guidance to a team of professionals working across property management, environmental investigations, compliance, planning, and natural resource management.
- Drive strategic outcomes Deliver on ambitious business objectives, balancing commercial, environmental, community, and government priorities while ensuring key performance targets are achieved.
- Provide trusted advice Offer expert, solutions-focused advice and recommendations on complex land and asset management matters, supporting informed decision-making at all levels.
- Navigate complex legislation Apply and interpret land management, planning, environmental, and natural resource legislation to ensure sound governance and compliance.
- Build influential partnerships Represent the Department with confidence, fostering positive relationships with community groups, industry bodies, government agencies, clients, and key stakeholders to achieve shared outcomes.

What you will bring to the role
- Proven leadership experience with the ability to inspire, develop, and lead multidisciplinary teams to achieve high-quality results in a complex and dynamic environment.
- Strong expertise in property, land, asset, or natural resource management, with the ability to balance environmental, community, operational, and commercial priorities.
- Sound knowledge of land management, planning, environmental and compliance frameworks, and the ability to interpret and apply relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
- Exceptional strategic thinking and problem-solving skills, enabling you to assess complex issues, identify risks and opportunities, and provide practical, evidence-based solutions.
- Strong financial and business acumen, with experience delivering against strategic objectives, managing resources effectively, and achieving both financial and operational targets.
- Excellent communication and influencing skills, with the ability to prepare clear advice, briefings, and recommendations for a range of stakeholders and decision-makers.
- A collaborative and customer-focused approach, demonstrated through building trusted relationships, fostering partnerships, and working effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
- Outstanding stakeholder engagement skills, with the confidence to represent an organisation in community, industry, and government forums while enhancing organisational reputation and delivering positive outcomes.
- A commitment to sustainable land stewardship and continuous improvement, with a focus on innovation, responsible asset management, and delivering long-term value for communities and the environment.
What is an essential requirement:
- Tertiary qualifications in natural resources, planning, environmental science, land management or other relevant field and/or equivalent level of knowledge and experience in the industry.
- Current driver’s licence and willingness to travel.
