- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $138,454 up to $152,686 per annum plus super
This is an exciting opportunity to work at the forefront of NSW’s transition to a low carbon future. You will join a high-performing team shaping reforms, policies and programs that support the development of a low carbon liquid fuels industry, strengthen fuel security, reduce emissions, and create new opportunities for regional economic growth and investment.
As a Senior Project Officer, you will lead the planning, coordination and delivery of complex policy and programs including the Renewable Fuel Scheme. In this role, you’ll also work across other related initiatives to strengthen environmental regulation and improve service delivery outcomes.
Working closely with internal and external stakeholders, you will provide strategic advice, manage project risks, oversee reporting and evaluation activities, and ensure projects are delivered on time, within budget, and in accordance with legislative requirements and organisational priorities.
You will play a key role in identifying emerging issues and opportunities, influencing stakeholders and supporting evidence-based decision-making across a dynamic and evolving policy environment.
What you will be doing:
- Lead the development and delivery of policy and programs including the Renewable Fuel Scheme, and related initiatives that strengthen environmental regulation and outcomes.
- Design and implement strategic and operational plans, frameworks, policies, processes and procedures aligned with organisational priorities.
- Manage complex, high-profile projects that support NSW Government and DCCEEW priorities.

About You
You are a strategic and solutions-focused project professional who thrives in complex environments and enjoys delivering meaningful outcomes. You have strong communications skills and thrive working collaboratively. You can confidently manage competing priorities, navigate sensitive issues and build productive relationships with stakeholders who may hold differing or competing views to achieve shared outcomes.
You will bring:
- Demonstrated experience leading and delivering complex policy and programs, ideally within government, regulatory, policy, environmental or sustainability settings.
- Strong stakeholder engagement including influencing and negotiating skills, with the ability to build consensus and drive outcomes across diverse groups.
- Excellent project management skills, including planning, governance, risk and issue management, reporting and evaluation.
You are resilient, adaptable and comfortable operating in environments where priorities can shift quickly. Most importantly, you are motivated by delivering outcomes for the Renewable Fuel Scheme, and related initiatives that support effective environmental regulation and contribute to better environmental and community outcomes in NSW.
Essential Requirements
- Good understanding of the workings of state government and knowledge of the relevant environmental legislation and regulatory practices for DCCEEW.
- Strong experience in developing and delivering resources and programs for a range of stakeholder groups aimed at building capacity.
- Demonstrated experience coaching and mentoring stakeholders to achieve program objectives.
