- Salary relative to experience, and ranges from $133,348 up to $146,945 pa plus super
We're looking for a highly motivated and curious policy professional to join our team and play a key role in shaping the future of the state's energy system. This is an exciting opportunity to work at the centre of government, contributing to major policy initiatives that support the development, delivery and implementation of NSW-based and national energy policy initiatives and reforms. These initiatives and reforms will support Government commitments to enable the transition to an affordable, reliable and low emissions energy system.
In this role, you'll work across government, industry and community stakeholders to develop innovative policies, provide strategic advice to senior executives, and coordinate projects that influence statewide energy policy and reform.
As a Senior Policy Officer, you'll have the opportunity to:
- Provide policy advice and pragmatic solutions based on research, stakeholder input, and critical analysis to requests from the Minister’s Office and Departmental senior executives
- Prepare high-quality evidence-based policy and practice advice and provide input to support consistent quality policy development and implementation, and informed decision making
- Devise, implement and drive new and innovative policies and policy change to support a reliable, affordable and low emissions energy sector in NSW, incorporating technical and operational input into legislative and policy outcomes
- Prepare, analyse and review Cabinet submissions, policies and legislation for their impact on energy markets and provide advice to the Department, Minister and other agencies
- Coordinate and contribute to cross-government projects that inform strategic energy policy development.

About You
You are a strong analytical thinker who enjoys solving complex problems and turning research and data into practical policy solutions. You have experience in fast-paced environments, can manage competing priorities, and are comfortable working on high-profile issues with tight deadlines.
You'll bring:
- Experience in policy development, strategy, policy research and regulatory change.
- Strong research, analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Sound judgement and the ability to navigate sensitive and complex issues with professionalism.
- Knowledge of the workings of government
