Our Conservation and Restoration Science team is seeking to appoint two Project Support Officers to join the Applied Bushfire Science Program team. The team helps shape evidence-based approaches to protect environmental and cultural values from bushfire risk across New South Wales.

Working within the Applied Bushfire Science Program team, you will help deliver research projects that bring together social, cultural, operational and scientific knowledge to address complex environmental, cultural and bushfire management challenges. You will work closely with researchers, government agencies, emergency management organisations, and First Nations stakeholders. Your role will support consultation, fieldwork, data collation, entry and analysis, social research and the preparation of decision briefs, evidence summaries and other project outputs.

Two current projects include supporting evidence collation of threatened species fire response data and qualitative data collection and analysis to support social research on the tolerable fire intervals for prescribed burning.

This is an excellent opportunity to develop your research and project support skills while contributing to work that has a meaningful impact on environmental and cultural outcomes. You will be part of a supportive and multidisciplinary team that values collaboration, continuous learning, respectful partnerships and the translation of complex information into practical solutions that benefit communities and Country.
