Our Water Operations & Resilience team is currently seeking to appoint a Water Resource Officer to support the effective implementation and continual improvement of water management across NSW. You’ll contribute to meaningful work that supports sustainable management of the state’s surface water and groundwater resources and helps deliver important water reform, planning and policy outcomes.
In this role, you’ll contribute to a range of regulatory programs and projects supporting the implementation of water management plans and other statutory instruments. You’ll provide specialist advice, coordinate project activities, monitor and report on implementation progress, and help identify practical solutions to emerging issues. Working collaboratively with internal teams, government agencies, industry representatives, local government and water users, you’ll build strong stakeholder relationships and communicate complex statutory and water management requirements in a clear and accessible way.
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- Knowledge or experience in water resource management, environmental management, regulation, policy or the implementation of statutory programs.
- Strong project management skills, with the ability to coordinate activities, monitor milestones and manage competing priorities and deadlines.
- Well-developed analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to assess complex information, identify emerging issues and develop practical, evidence-based solutions.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to translate technical or statutory information into clear, plain-English advice.
- Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and engage effectively with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
- A proactive and accountable approach to your work, with the ability to work independently while contributing effectively within a collaborative team environment.
Essential Requirements –
- Tertiary qualifications in Natural Resources, Environmental Science, Engineering, Environmental Law, or a related discipline and /or equivalent experience.
