Help build the asset framework that will support new and established asset portfolios.

NPWS are looking for an Asset Officer to implement the asset management framework to support new and established asset portfolios.

You'll be responsible for establishing critical asset information, systems and processes that will enable the effective management of infrastructure, visitor facilities and operational assets into the future.

This is a unique role where your work will directly influence how thousands of assets are identified, managed, maintained and funded, supporting both conservation outcomes and visitor experiences across nationally significant landscapes.

About the role
Reporting to the Senior Asset Officer, you'll work closely with park operations, finance and asset management teams to establish and maintain the asset information required to support the ongoing management of assets within NPWS.

What you'll be doing

  • Managing and maintaining asset data and records in Enterprise Asset Management (EAM).
  • Supporting asset planning, maintenance and renewal programs.
  • Providing project, financial, administrative and fleet support.
  • Assisting with procurement, contract administration and reporting.
  • Working with operational teams to improve asset management practices and systems.
  • Supporting inspections, risk assessments and asset-related compliance activities.

What makes this role unique?
Unlike many asset management roles, you'll be involved from the very beginning, helping to build asset structures, financial frameworks and system records from the ground up. You'll contribute to the creation of thousands of asset records, equipment IDs and functional locations within EAM, ensuring the information needed to support future maintenance, renewal and investment decisions is in place.

Your work will provide the foundation for effective asset management for years to come.

About you
We're looking for someone who is organised, analytical and enjoys working with systems, data and stakeholders to solve problems and deliver practical outcomes.

You'll bring:

  • Experience in asset management, project support, finance administration or a related field.
  • Strong attention to detail and data management skills.
  • Experience using asset, finance or fleet management systems (MyWorkZone desirable).
  • Strong organisational and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • A current driver's licence and willingness to undertake field work, including remote or lone working when required.

This role combines office-based asset management with field-based activities across a diverse and environmentally significant landscape. Regular travel to asset sites will be required, along with a willingness and ability to undertake remote or lone field work when required.

In return, you'll have the opportunity to contribute to landmark conservations initiative while developing valuable experience in asset management, project delivery and park operations.
