Responsibilities

Drive thematic reviews to assess the effectiveness of risk and control environments within the bank

  • Independently drive and execute reviews focusing on specific areas of risk or control weaknesses identified within the business.  This involves assessing the design and operating effectiveness of controls, identifying gaps, and recommending improvements.
  • Identify and assess potential business and operational risks, including those related to new initiatives, processes, and market changes.
  • Ensure that business operations adhere to relevant regulations, policies, and procedures.  This includes providing guidance and support to business units on compliance matters and facilitating the implementation of necessary controls.
  • Prepare and present reports on thematic review findings, risk assessments, and other relevant risk information to stakeholders.
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of the bank's risk and control environment through the implementation of best practices, lessons learned from incidents, and feedback from stakeholders.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders, including business units, risk owners, control owners, and other relevant parties.
  • Support ad hoc tasks / projects assigned by supervisors.

 

Requirements:

  • Degree or above with major in Business, Accounting, Finance, Marketing, Law, or related disciplines.
  • A keen interest in a career in Compliance or Operational Risk within the Banking industry.
  • A foundational understanding of banking and financial operations, products, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and perform effectively under supervision.
  • Possesses strong logical, analytical, and problem-solving skills with a keen intellectual curiosity and attention to detail.
  • A flexible, proactive self-starter with the ability to learn quickly and a willingness to take on new challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with a strong command of both spoken and written English and Chinese (Mandarin and Cantonese).
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
  • Familiarity with or a strong desire to learn data analysis tools or programming languages such as VBA, SAS, or Python is a plus.
