About the role  

Due to the success of our evolving early careers proposition, we're expanding the team and introducing an exciting new role for an Early Careers Co-ordinator to support our Retail and Support Centre teams. Reporting directly to the Group Early Careers Manager, you’ll play a key role in shaping the future of talent across both our Support Centre and Retail functions by supporting the development and delivery of a wide range of early careers initiatives. This is a fast-paced, hands-on role—ideal for someone who thrives on variety, embraces change, and enjoys staying agile as priorities shift. 

If you’re passionate about building strong relationships—whether with external training providers or internal stakeholders—and confident presenting to a wide range of audiences, this role could be a great fit. You'll be a key advocate for our early careers offering, helping to raise its profile across the business and play a vital role in attracting and developing the next generation of talent. 

This role will be 35 hours per week over a 5-day working week (full-time contracts are 37.5 hours per week) with a pro-rata salary of £28,000. This role allows for flexible working hours around business needs.  

Key responsibilities 

  • Act as the main point of contact for Early Careers enquiries across Support Centre, Logistics, and Retail. 

  • Manage the enrolment and onboarding process for new apprentices across the group. 

  • Support and monitor a caseload of Early Careers colleagues, resolving issues and ensuring successful programme completion and End Point Assessments. 

  • Co-ordinate the Support Centre work experience programme. 

  • Build strong relationships with training providers and colleges to ensure high service standards. 

  • Work collaboratively with internal stakeholders, providing regular updates and reports. 

  • Promote Early Careers through engaging presentations, internal communications, and event planning. 

  • Plan and deliver key events, including National Apprenticeship Week, Learning at Work Week, and the Apprentice Celebration. 

  • Create compelling business cases for new Early Careers initiatives.. 

  • Stay up to date with industry best practices and share insights to support continuous improvement. 

  • Ensure compliance with contracts, legal agreements, and internal processes. 

  • Use the Digital Apprenticeship Service (DAS) system effectively. 

  • Act as a brand ambassador for Halfords, promoting all Early Careers and development opportunities.

About you  

  • You’re passionate about people, with experience or transferable knowledge of Apprenticeships, Early Careers, or work experience and graduate programmes. 

  • A confident communicator and presenter, able to engage effectively with colleagues and stakeholders at all levels. 

  • Highly organised with excellent administrative skills and a keen eye for detail, balancing multiple priorities with ease. 

  • Tech-savvy and proficient in Microsoft Office, including Teams, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint. 

  • Adaptable and self-motivated, thriving in fast-paced environments and working well both independently and as part of a team.
