About the role

Join Halfords as our Group Induction Lead and play a pivotal role in shaping the first impressions of our new colleagues. You’ll be at the heart of creating a welcoming, informative, and inspiring onboarding journey—ensuring every new team member feels confident, connected, and ready to thrive from day one. This is your opportunity to lead and continuously improve an engaging induction experience that reflects our culture and values while setting the standard for excellence across the Group.

In this exciting role, you’ll coordinate tailored induction programmes across multiple teams and departments, making sure every detail aligns with our compliance standards, role requirements, and company mission. You’ll have the autonomy to innovate and enhance the onboarding process, helping to build a stronger, more unified workforce. If you’re passionate about people, thrive on organisation, and want to make a lasting impact—this is the perfect role for you.

This is a field-based role where you will split your time between our Support Centre in Redditch, in the field across our stores and garages and working from home.

Key responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deliver effective induction programmes tailored to various colleague groups, roles, and departments, using blended learning approaches to suit different functions.
  • Facilitate engaging group induction sessions, including welcome presentations, company overviews, webinars, and interactive Q&A sessions that inspire and inform new colleagues.
  • Collaborate with HR, department leaders, subject matter experts, and technical trainers to ensure induction content is accurate, relevant, and aligned with company values and role expectations.
  • Provide new hires with essential tools, resources, and training materials—such as employee handbooks, policies, and procedures—to ensure a smooth and confident transition into their roles.
  • Monitor and evaluate the effectiveness of the induction process by gathering feedback, tracking attendance, and analysing data to drive improvements and support compliance.
  • Regularly communicate with stakeholders, recruitment teams, and hiring managers to maintain consistency and alignment between induction, recruitment goals, and colleague expectations.
  • Foster strong relationships with senior leaders and department heads to ensure the induction programme evolves with the business and continues to meet strategic objectives.
  • Continuously improve the onboarding experience by staying informed on best practices, running colleague surveys, and using insights to enhance engagement, retention, and capability.

About you

  • You're a confident communicator and presenter, able to engage, inspire, and connect with audiences at all levels across the business.
  • You’re highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining strong attention to detail.
  • You’re tech-savvy, with proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience using HR systems or Learning Management Systems (LMS).
  • You’re passionate about inclusion, ensuring induction content is accessible, inclusive, and reflective of our diverse colleague base.

Reward & benefits

  • A fair and competitive salary evaluated against market data, company car, annual discretionary bonus scheme, pension, life assurance, 25 days annual leave plus bank holidays, holiday buy & sell and enhanced family leave.
  • Commitment and dedication to your ongoing personal and professional development. We help you to own and grow your potential so you can be at your best in your current role and to support your future career aspirations.
