Job Purpose

Due to the exciting growth of our Early Careers programmes, we are now looking for a new Autocentre Early Careers Co-ordinator to predominantly cover the North of the UK (however wider travel may be required)

Working as part of the Skills Development team, for the Group Apprenticeship Team Leader, the role holder will support with the development and growth of apprenticeships and other early careers initiatives across our Autocentres.

The role holder will be accountable for supporting all colleagues who undertake an early careers training programme. You will build effective relationships with stakeholders, colleges and training providers, which will lead to the successful outcomes for our colleagues and business.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accountable for the co-ordination of selecting and enrolling new apprentices and interns across Garages
  • Effectively manage your allocated caseload of apprentices and interns to ensure all apprentices complete their programmes and pass their End Point Assessments
  • Work collaboratively with key stakeholders and provide regular updates and reports
  • Support with the organisation of events such as National Apprenticeship Week, Apprentice of the Year competitions, Celebration Days
  • Build and maintain relationships with colleges and training providers to ensure the highest levels of service are provided and colleagues achieve their qualifications
  • Identify ways to improve current working methods and implement efficiencies to any of the processes
  • Raise any issues or concerns with the Group Apprenticeship Team Leader and identify solutions to problems
  • Keep abreast of latest external thinking and best practice and share expertise with the Skills Development team to enable continuous improvement of our early careers programmes
  • Adhere to any processes and procedures set out in contracts and legal agreements.
  • Become an ambassador for Halfords promoting all career opportunities

Key Skills/Experience

Essential:

  • A keen passion to develop and nurture new talent
  • Ability to use Microsoft Office programmes including Teams, Excel, Word and PowerPoint to a high standard
  • Ability to engage with colleagues, communicating with them confidently and effectively about apprenticeships
  • Comfortable presenting to large groups
  • Experience in building relationships
  • Positive, can-do attitude with the ability to adapt and work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently, as well as collaboratively as part of a wider team.
  • Have commercial awareness, strong attention to detail and ability to identify issues quickly and provide solutions in a timely manner
  • Display the Halfords Values at all times
  • Ability to stay away from home on a regular basis (70% travel)
  • Clean UK driving license
  • Undertake a DBS check

Desirable:

  • Experience or background in Garages/ Autocentres/ Cycling/ Cy-Tech
  • Knowledge on Apprenticeships / Early Careers programmes/ Government funded training programmes
  • Previous experience in a training and development team/role
