The role
As Financial Reporting Manager, you’ll play a pivotal role in managing and transforming the financial reporting processes that underpin Halfords’ complex supply chain. This is a high-impact position responsible for tracking purchasing and inventory across the network, managing supplier financing lines, and preparing both internal management reports and external statutory reporting. You’ll own the accounting processes for a key area of the business that supports £80–£100m of annual purchasing, and your work will be seen at board level.
You’ll bring deep experience in technical accounting, with a strong grasp of IFRS and UK GAAP, along with the ability to manage complex reconciliations in a heavily manual, spreadsheet-driven environment. As a qualified accountant with strong Excel skills, you’ll thrive on navigating detail, challenging assumptions, and proactively improving accuracy and controls. This role requires someone who can build strong relationships across supply chain, category, legal, and finance teams, as well as with external logistics partners and auditors.
This is an opportunity for a finance leader who’s not afraid of complexity and who sees the challenge in turning fragmented manual processes into something robust, accurate, and systemised. With SAP in place and a transformation agenda on the table, there’s real scope to make your mark by shaping long-term reporting solutions that reduce risk, increase transparency, and improve efficiency across the board.
