About the role
Due to internal development, we are recruiting for a Head of Finance - a critical leadership role at the forefront of Halfords’ transformation. This is a unique opportunity to join our Commercial Finance team at a pivotal moment, guiding a talented team of six and partnering with key functions across Marketing, Customer, Digital, Technology, and Transformation. You’ll be a catalyst for change, helping us unlock value, shape strategic decisions, and deliver high-impact business outcomes.

Key responsibilities
- Build strong, influential partnerships with our Marketing, Customer, Technology, Digital and Transformation teams to support bold, business-wide initiatives.
- Lead and inspire a high-performing finance team that acts as a trusted advisor and critical friend to the functions it supports.
- Collaborate with the Transformation Office to shape and support major change programmes, ensuring projects are strategically aligned and customer-focused.
- Drive rigorous tracking of project spend and benefits, supporting robust governance with high-quality investment appraisals and insightful post-investment reviews.
- Take ownership of Marketing spend, evaluating investment effectiveness and working cross-functionally to shape and deliver the most impactful commercial plans.
- Provide commercial modelling and decision support for high-profile customer initiatives, including loyalty, life-of-car, and other strategic propositions.
- Partner closely with the Loyalty team to deliver regular P&L and KPI reporting, and offer clear, actionable insights to guide proposition development and commercial performance.
- Oversee financial management of Technology and Digital investments, ensuring accurate capitalisation and alignment with our target operating model.
- Lead the ongoing drive for cost efficiencies, identifying and tracking risks and opportunities to deliver savings above and beyond budget expectations.
About you
- Proven finance leader with experience operating at a senior, strategic level.
- Fully qualified accountant (ACCA/CIMA/ACA) with strong business partnering expertise.
- Builds trusted relationships and communicates effectively across all levels.
- Inspires and develops high-performing teams with a clear leadership track record.
- Commercially minded, with the ability to turn complex data into actionable insight.
- Strong problem-solver, bringing both innovative thinking and practical solutions.
- High attention to detail, ensuring accuracy in reporting and analysis.
- Positive, driven, and thrives in fast-paced, results-oriented environments.
