Swarthmore Dining is a self-operated dining program which consists of Residential Dining, Catering, and three Retail Locations. The opportunity:
The Stock & Delivery Associate receives and properly stores refrigerated, dry goods, paper products, and other items necessary for the daily operations. Deliver goods to other dining facilities. Assist with preparing, setting up, delivery and picking up catering jobs using college vehicles. Pick up products as required for operational needs.
Essential Responsibilities
- Receive dry goods, refrigerated, frozen, paper, coffee and chemicals and store items properly and safely following FIFO rule (first in first out).
- Weigh all fresh proteins and spot check and log temperature for randomly selected proteins, dairy and eggs.
- Assist in inventory and record keeping as directed.
- Closely monitor invoices and deliveries and report to the production manager any discrepancies, issues or returns
- Check produce weights and counts.
- Keep loading dock area clean and organized
- Pack out, label and store student pack outs.
- Safely deliver and pick up grab and go items.
- Deliver catered events and set up as directed by catering manager
- On occasion deliver commissary items to Science Center and Kohlberg.
- Maintain cleanliness, both interior and exterior of Dining Services vehicles.
- Report any issues with Dining Services vehicles.
- Properly organize, clean and sanitize, daily, worktables, storage areas, walk-in cooler shelving, cold box, freezer units and floors.
What you bring:
Required Qualifications
- 2-3 years in a food service establishment or warehouse or other receiver and driver experience.
- Good interpersonal skills and the ability to work in a team environment.
- Ability to communicate clearly.
- Valid driver's license.
- Ability to read, write, comprehend, and follow verbal and written instructions to interact with students, faculty, and staff.
- Ability to communicate with co-workers and management with professionalism and respect.
- Customer service experience.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
- Willingness to be open to learning and growing.
- Ability to prioritize and complete multiple concurrent tasks.
Preferred Qualifications
- 3-5 years of experience in customer service, delivery or warehouse worker.
- Food handling experience.
- Serve-safe certified.
Physical Demands
- Sustained standing, frequent bending.
- Move, lift and carry supplies, equipment and materials weighing up to 50 pounds without assistance from floor to waist height.
- Carry supplies up or down stairs as necessary.
- Lift items above shoulder height.
- Travel throughout campus by foot if necessary.
- Involves repetitive motion.
Working Conditions
- Fast paced, high volume environment.
- Seven day operation, including nights and weekends.
- Must be able to adapt to ever-changing demands of college dining services.
- Must work in inclement and severe weather conditions
- Could be a noisy environment.
- Floors could be wet, non-slip shoes required.
- Temperature changes: variations in temperature, which are sufficiently marked and abrupt to cause noticeable bodily reactions.
- Interact with heated equipment, steam, and other at risk conditions.
