Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented  Oracle Database Administrator (DBA) to join our Core Enterprise Systems (CES) team. As a DBA, you will work closely with experienced DBAs and be responsible for assisting in the maintenance, performance, security, and optimization of our Oracle databases. This role provides an excellent opportunity for individuals looking to gain hands-on experience in database administration and grow their skills in a dynamic environment.

Essential Functions

  • Database Maintenance: Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of Oracle databases to ensure their integrity, availability, and security.
  • Backup and Recovery: Implement and manage database backup and recovery strategies to minimize data loss in case of failures. Rubrik and/or RMAN Experience preferred.
  • Performance Tuning: Monitor and optimize database performance by identifying and resolving issues related to SQL queries, indexing, and resource utilization. Experience with Oracle Enterprise Management (OEM) diagnostic and performance pack is a plus.
  • Security Management: Assist in implementing and maintaining security measures, including user access control, authentication, and encryption to protect sensitive data.
  • Patch Management: Apply database patches and operating system updates as necessary to keep the Oracle environment up to date.
  • Troubleshooting: Help diagnose and resolve database-related issues, providing support to end-users and collaborating with senior DBAs and other DU-IT teams as needed.
  • Documentation: Maintain and update database documentation, including schemas, configurations, and procedures for reference and audit purposes.
  • Data Migration: Assist in planning and executing database migrations, upgrades, and data transfer projects.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with senior DBAs, developers, external vendors and other IT teams to ensure the smooth operation of database systems in support of business applications.
  • On-Call Support: Participate in an on-call rotation to provide 24/7 support for critical database issues when required.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's degree or Equivalent in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Minimum of Three to Five years of experience.
  • Basic understanding of database concepts and SQL.
  • Knowledge of Oracle database management tools and utilities.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • A willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies and best practices.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Oracle certification (e.g., Oracle Certified Associate) is a plus.
  • Familiarity with database monitoring, performance tuning and management tools.
  • Proven experience with Linux and shell scripting.
  • Basic knowledge of database performance tuning techniques.
  • Understanding database security best practices.
  • Experience with Oracle PL/SQL programming is a plus.
  • Familiarity with Oracle Cloud and cloud-based database services is a bonus.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade M . Compensation for this grade ranges from $75,200.00 to $ 112,790.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
