Suspension of Drexel University's Contribution into 403(b) Retirement Plan

As communicated on Oct. 10, Drexel University is suspending its contributions to employee retirement plans for calendar year 2025 as part of its multi-year plan to build financial resilience. Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and skilled Research Assistant with a master’s degree in epidemiology or an allied science to contribute to a research lab focused on Latino immigrant health, specifically analyzing data, helping to write manuscripts, and preparing presentations using survey data from the Migrante Project.
Migrante is a binational study that examines health status and access to health care among Mexican migrants. Since 2007, Migrante investigators have implemented a series of probability-based surveys on Mexico's northern border. Though the project began only in Tijuana, it was subsequently expanded to collect data in two additional border cities: Matamoros and Ciudad Juárez, Mexico. Migrants were sampled from four different migrant flows: Deported migrants, migrants traveling North, migrants traveling South from the U.S. and migrants traveling South from the Mexican border. The RA will work under the supervision of Dr. Martinez-Donate and will conduct analyses outlined in the project application and contribute with the preparation of abstracts, presentations, manuscripts, and reports

Essential Functions

  • Analyze and interpret survey datasets, utilizing advanced statistical and epidemiological methodologies to address research aims. 
  • Assist in the preparation of manuscripts for publication in peer-reviewed journals as co-author, scientific presentations, and reports. 
  • Participate in regular team meetings, seminars, and workshops to enhance professional development and contribute to the collective knowledge of the research group. 
  • Represent the research team as needed to university and external audiences including meetings and scientific conferences.
  • Additional assigned duties as needed. Balance of activities will be adjusted, as needed, to support the successful fulfillment of aims agreed upon with external funding agencies, growth of the team, and developing research priorities. 

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master's Degree in epidemiology or related health field is required or the equivalent combination of education and work experience.
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience. 
  • Strong background in quantitative research methods, biostatistics, and social epidemiology.
  • Interest in furthering their expertise in area of social epidemiology of chronic disease and aging.
  • Proficiency in utilizing statistical software such as SAS, R, Python, or similar tools for data analysis.
  • Experience working with Migrante Project or similar datasets and complex statistical analyses.
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a multidisciplinary team.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

This position is classified as Non-Exempt, grade G. Compensation for this grade ranges from $15.58 to $23.37 Per hour. Please note that the offered rate for this position typically aligns with the minimum to midrange of this grade, but it can vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
