Job Overview

The Doctoral Programs within the School of Education is accepting applications for adjunct instructors with expertise in Educational Leadership and Management. Areas of specialization include organizational leadership and educational research. Selected candidates will join a pool of adjunct faculty who will serve on an ad-hoc basis to teach classes in-person (day or evening), hybrid, or online. Adjunct instructors are hired on a term-by-term basis. Applications are accepted on a continuous basis and will be reviewed when openings become available. The successful candidate will be expected to teach online doctoral courses, advise students, work collegially with other faculty, and have a background in leadership, systems change, organizational development, or educational research.

Drexel University's EdD in Educational Leadership and Management is a doctoral program designed to prepare scholarly practitioners for leadership positions in a wide variety of contexts, including early childhood, PK-12 education, higher education, non-profit and for-profit organizations, government agencies, and other organizations. EdD students are largely working professionals seeking to solve problems of practice in their contexts.

The School of Education prepares education professionals for success in classrooms, administration, research, and policy. The School of Education consists of two departments; Teaching, Learning, & Curriculum and Policy, Organization & Leadership. With an emphasis on civic engagement, faculty and staff engage in classroom-based and site-based learning as a part of our diverse bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral programs. The School also offers a wide variety of certificates, certifications, and professional development programs to meet the needs of educators, administrators, and education professionals. 

Essential Functions

  • Teach the required number of credit hours per quarter/semester based on their contract.
  • Teach graduate courses online in the areas of leadership, management, and/or research.
  • Plan and provide instructional experiences that reflect an understanding of the program’s philosophy, objectives, and curriculum.
  • Evaluate student achievement of curricular objectives/outcomes
  • Maintain communication with the program director/department chair regarding any course or student issues.

Depending on contractual agreements other responsibilities may also include:

  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, public/private colleges, as well as regional, state and national education agencies/professional organizations.
  • Advise and mentor graduate students.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned as outlined in the employment contract.

Required Qualifications

  • An earned doctorate or terminal degree in early childhood, K-12 education, higher education, human resource development, or closely related field.
  • A record of excellence in teaching, research, service, and professional participation.
  • Major specialization in one or more of the following areas:
    • Leadership to support social justice, equity, diversity, and a culture of success;
    • Educational research, including qualitative, quantitative, and/or mixed methods
  • Commitment to serving a culturally and ethnically diverse student body.
