Job Summary

The Director of Marketing Strategy & Enrollment Communications serves as the College of Engineering & Computing’s lead marketing strategist for graduate, executive, and corporate audiences, with additional responsibility for undergraduate confirm and yield communications. Reporting to the Executive Director, Marketing and Communications, this position develops and executes integrated marketing strategies, campaigns, and communications that advance graduate enrollment, executive education growth, corporate prospect engagement, and undergraduate yield goals.

Working in close partnership with the Assistant Dean of Recruitment, Enrollment Management & Student Success (EMSS), academic program leaders, University Marketing & Communications (UMAC), and leaders responsible for executive and corporate engagement, this role translates growth priorities into audience-specific marketing strategies that generate awareness, deepen engagement, support conversion, and improve enrollment and yield outcomes.

The Director is responsible for marketing and communications across the graduate and executive prospect journey, including awareness building, inquiry generation, applicant engagement, corporate prospect engagement, conversion, and enrollment yield. For undergraduate audiences, the role focuses primarily on admitted-student engagement, confirm strategy, and yield communications. This role uses marketing technologies, analytics, audience segmentation, digital advertising, CRM platforms, and content strategies to improve marketing performance and support measurable growth objectives.

The successful candidate will be a collaborative, data-driven marketing leader with demonstrated experience in marketing strategy, demand generation, campaign planning, audience engagement, enrollment communications, and executive or corporate audience marketing.  

Essential Functions

  • Marketing Strategy & Enrollment Growth:
    • Develop and implement comprehensive marketing strategies supporting graduate enrollment, executive education, corporate prospect audiences, online programs, and undergraduate confirm and yield goals.
    • Collaborate with Enrollment Management, academic leadership, College leadership, and leaders responsible for executive and corporate engagement to align marketing activities with growth priorities.
    • Develop annual marketing plans, campaign calendars, and performance objectives aligned with graduate, executive, corporate, and undergraduate yield priorities.
    • Translate enrollment, executive education, and corporate audience engagement goals into measurable marketing initiatives and tactics.
    • Monitor market trends, competitive positioning, and audience behavior to inform strategy.
  • Graduate, Executive & Undergraduate Yield Communications:
    • Lead development of graduate and executive prospect communications throughout the audience decision journey.
    • Design communication strategies that support awareness, inquiry generation, applicant engagement, corporate prospect engagement, yield, and enrollment conversion.
    • Develop messaging frameworks tailored to graduate, executive, corporate, online, and admitted undergraduate audiences.
    • Collaborate with admissions, recruitment, executive education, and corporate engagement teams to improve effectiveness of communication at each stage of the audience journey.
    • Ensure communication plans support enrollment objectives, executive and corporate engagement goals, and the student experience. 
  • Campaign Management & Digital Marketing:
    • Lead integrated marketing campaigns that leverage digital advertising, search engine marketing, social media marketing, email communications, content marketing, and related channels.
    • Partner with University Marketing & Communications and external vendors to execute campaign initiatives.
    • Coordinate audience targeting, segmentation, and personalization efforts.
    • Review campaign performance and continuously optimize marketing tactics.
    • Support promotion of graduate, executive, corporate, and admitted-student yield events and initiatives. 
  • Analytics, CRM & Performance Management:
    • Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and campaign metrics tied to graduate enrollment, executive education growth, corporate prospect engagement, and undergraduate yield.
    • Utilize analytics, CRM platforms, dashboards, and reporting tools to assess campaign effectiveness.
    • Partner with the Associate Director of Marketing Analytics & Technology to monitor campaign performance, prospect engagement, recruitment performance, and user-engagement trends.
    • Analyze conversion rates, marketing attribution, and campaign return on investment.
    • Provide recommendations for ongoing optimization and improvement. 
  • Strategic Partnership & Stakeholder Collaboration:
    • Serve as the primary marketing strategy partner for the Assistant Dean of Recruitment, executive education leads, leaders responsible for corporate engagement, and enrollment teams.
    • Collaborate with academic departments to support graduate program promotion, executive education opportunities, corporate prospect engagement, and undergraduate yield priorities.
    • Coordinate with UMAC, EMSS, and central marketing teams to ensure alignment and consistency.
    • Participate in University-wide graduate, executive, corporate, and enrollment marketing initiatives and working groups.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Marketing, Communications, Business Administration, or a related field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 5 to 7 years of progressive professional experience in strategic marketing, demand generation, or campaign planning.
  • Enrollment Marketing Expertise: Established track record designing and executing full-funnel student recruitment strategies, from inquiry generation to applicant conversion.
  • Yield Strategy: Demonstrated experience developing targeted communications specifically for admitted-student engagement, confirm strategies, and undergraduate and graduate student yield outcomes.
  • B2B & Executive Marketing:
    • Experience building audience-specific marketing strategies tailored to executive, professional, and corporate audiences.
  • CRM & Marketing Technology:
    • Advanced proficiency using enrollment CRM platforms (e.g. Slate, Salesforce) and marketing automation technologies for audience segmentation.
  • Digital Advertising and Analytics:
    • Strong experience managing digital advertising campaigns and using data analytics to measure, optimize, and report on marketing performance.
  • Cross-Functional Collaboration:
    • Proven ability to partner with cross-functional leadership, including enrollment management (EMSS), central marketing (UMAC), and academic program leaders.
  • Project and Campaign Management:
    • Demonstrated ability to translate institutional growth priorities into integrated multi-channel marketing campaigns that drive measurable growth.

Preferred Qualifications

  • STEM Domain Knowledge: Experience marketing technical academic programs, engineering degrees, or computing sciences.
  • Matrixed Environment: Prior experience navigating a complex, decentralized university, corporation, or nonprofit.

Additional Information
This position is classified as Exempt, grade M. Compensation for this grade ranges from $82,920.00 - $124,380.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for this position will vary based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
