Job Summary

Under the supervision of the Assistant Director for Student Conduct and Community Standards, the Coordinator for Student Conduct and Community Standards assists in the coordination and implementation of a learning-focused student conduct process at the University of Massachusetts Amherst. Primary responsibilities include reviewing, tracking, and closing residential student conduct cases using administrative management software; adjudicating student conduct cases; supporting the development and implementation of student conduct related trainings and initiatives.

 

Essential Functions

  • Reviews residential student conduct referrals, determines policies under review, issues notices of code violation(s).
  • Reviews residential resolved student conduct cases and monitors timely completion of case and sanctions.
  • Serves as a student conduct case administrator.
  • Supports University hearing board activities including serving as a procedural advisor.
  • Assists with the creation of student conduct related reports and assessment.
  • Assists in the development of educational initiatives and delivery of trainings, presentations, workshops, and publications for members of the university community.
  • Utilizes the applicable administrative software system to maintain accurate conduct case records.
  • Participates in the development of goals and learning outcomes for student conduct as a member of the Student Conduct and Community Standards Office team.
  • Supports and participates in university initiatives such as New Students Orientation, student organization events, campus committees, and other activities related to student success and the overall student experience.
  • Remains current in related best practices and participates in required training programs related to position.

  • Performs related duties as assigned or required. Understands responsibilities with respect to Title IX, Clery and other compliance requirements. 
  • Demonstrates capacity, skill, and willingness to engage students and contribute to student success. 
  • Understands responsibilities with respect to conflicts of interest and behaves in ways consistent both with law and with University policy. 
  • Contributes toward creating a positive and respectful workplace. Uses access to sensitive and/or not yet public University-related information only in the performance of the responsibilities of position and exercises care to prevent unnecessary disclosure to others.

 

Minimum Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Master’s degree.
  • Demonstrated experience adjudicating student conduct cases.
  • Experience working in medium to large residential campus.
  • Experience using a web-based conduct software platform to initiate, track, and record student conduct matters.
  • Demonstrated computer skills including word processing, spreadsheets and web-based applications.
  • Demonstrated experience working with diverse populations and in developing inclusive communities and work teams.
  • Demonstrated experience creating and delivering trainings, workshops and presentations.
  • Excellent communication (oral and written) and presentation skills.

 

Preferred Qualifications (Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, Education, Experience, Certifications, Licensure)

  • Knowledge of and experience with Clery Act requirements
  • Two years of experience adjudicating student conduct cases at a residential campus 

 

Physical Demands/Working Conditions

  • Typical office environment.
  • Ability to lift up to 30 pounds without restrictions.

 

Work Schedule

Monday – Friday; 8:30am-5:00pm; Position may require evening/weekend hours as needed.
