General Summary of Position:

We seek individuals with strong background in pharmacology and experimental therapeutics and reasonable working knowledge in pharmaceutical and biomedical sciences. Candidates with background in biology or chemistry who can demonstrate competence in pharmacology and toxicology will also be considered. He or she should be highly motivated and able to work well in teams and have excellent communication skills. Potential areas of application include: metal/nutrient transport, preclinical pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics (PK/PD), PK/PD modeling and simulation, neuroscience, neuropharmacology, neurotoxicology, instrumental/biomarker analysis, and molecular and cellular biology. 

Responsibilities include: perform basic and applied research in areas of considerable scope and complexity.  Plan independent research and analyze and publish the results. Prepare grant proposals. Provide functional and administrative supervision over supporting research staff and transfer technical and statistical expertise. Responsible for purchasing and budget administration. Attend meetings and present the results.

Minimum Qualifications (Required):

  • Must have a Ph.D. or equivalent; progressively more responsible experience that demonstrates the ability to plan and execute research; previous supervisory experience
  • Experience in using computer-based tools (Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc.)
  • Experience in statistical analyses (ANOVA, regression, etc.)
  • Experience working with rodents (mice or rats) and cultured cell models
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent organizational and interpersonal skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Applicants should have an advanced terminal degree (PhD, MD, or DVM) in pharmacology, toxicology, chemistry, biology, pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics or closely related to the field of pharmaceutical sciences)
  • Some experience with laboratory animals, pharmacokinetics or biochemical approaches is desirable
  • Applicants with fellowship or funding support will be given a priority

Additional Considerations:

  • Evaluation will begin immediately, and applications will be accepted until the position is filled
  • Experience working with mice or rats
  • Experience working with cultured cells/sterile technique
  • Experience with molecular techniques (cloning, mutagenesis, PCR, etc.)
