Mutual of Omaha is seeking a highly skilled Data Engineer who will develop and maintain data-centric solutions and manage data warehouses to support our group insurance products. In this role, you will collaborate with cross-functional teams to define technology roadmaps, design, architect and build scalable and efficient data pipelines, optimize data storage and retrieval, and ensure data quality and integrity throughout the data lifecycle to provide seamless customer experience.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU: 

  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications):  

  • Engineer I: $95,000 - $115,000, plus annual bonus opportunity. 

  • Engineer II: $110,000 - $130,000, plus annual bonus opportunity. 

  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.

WHAT YOU'LL DO: 

  • Develop, test and integrate new data features and functionality based on product and business requirements.  

  • Implement data orchestration, data sourcing, cleansing, enrichment and data quality controls within supported data systems/platforms.  

  • Work with business owners to enable data utilization and maximize information value within supported systems.   

  • Design and develop scalable and efficient data pipelines to meet the operational and analytical data requirements of the business.  

  • Collaborate with enterprise stakeholders on data architecture, governance, data management best practices, and security to develop solutions that adhere to established standards, policies and frameworks.  

 

 

WHAT YOU’LL BRING: 

  • At least 5 years of experience in data modeling, building and maintaining data pipelines, data warehousing and reporting including foundational ETL/ELT experience. 

  • Strong experience in Data Warehousing and Data Mesh architectures, working with relational databases (Snowflake, Teradata, DB2, SQL server). Experience with document databases (MongoDB) is a plus.  

  • Hands-on experience building data pipelines using AWS Glue, CDK, Python, Git and familiarity with Snowflake utilities SnowPark, SnowConvert, SnowPipe etc.  

  • Proven ability to ensure data availability, reliability and quality through structured methodologies.  

  • The ability to collaborate with others in a team environment including mentoring, engaging in code reviews, and sharing expertise.

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.
