Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company has an immediate full-time opening in our Statutory Reporting and Analysis department for an experienced, self-motivated, detail and results-oriented State Reporting Supervisor who will be responsible for overseeing a wide range of department of insurance state filings and compliance.  This position will actively participate in an environment that embraces change and innovation, learning, and interactive feedback while adhering to finance policies, procedures, and internal controls. This role will play a key part in driving the improvement, standardization, and automation of the state reporting process, including the implementation of new tools and technologies (including AI). The position will work cross‑functionally with business partners and own the design and execution of a transformative state reporting initiative, while continuing to ensure accurate and timely regulatory compliance.

  • Estimated Salary: $85,000-$98,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Own and drive a transformative initiative to improve, standardize, and automate the state reporting process, including evaluating and implementing new technologies and tools (prior experience with AI tools is a plus but not required).
  • Oversee and continuously improve the monitoring of department of insurance state checklists to ensure compliance for company permits, licenses, fees, assessments, and miscellaneous filings.
  • Collaborate with Corporate Tax to ensure successful completion of Premium Tax submission and payment.
  • Drives execution on ideas to improve business process across enterprise functions and knowledge in the workplace.
  • Actively coordinate with state departments of insurance, auditors, and other outside regulatory parties.
  • Serve as the Finance single point of contact for all  compliance updates from the Compliance team, acting as the subject matter expert (SME) and ensuring accurate dissemination of information across relevant stakeholders.
  • Actively coaches and mentors direct reports and other staff.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, operate effectively in ambiguous environments, and identify priorities without a fixed daily checklist.
  • Ability to act as a central point of coordination across Finance, Compliance, Tax, and external parties, and to direct others on next steps as needed.
  • Ability to utilize creative thinking, learn new technologies and apply this knowledge to optimize business processes.
  • Attention to detail and follow-up, critical thinking, and excellent organizational skills with the ability to handle and prioritize multiple and competing priorities.
  • Communicate effectively verbally, non-verbally and in written formats, with peers, internal business partners, and regulators while tailoring content and approach to the intended audience.
  • Self-driven with demonstrated ability to deal with ambiguity, influence change with peers and business partners.
  • Ability to travel occasionally (approximately 5–10% annually) to attend Finance and Actuarial events (travel reimbursed).

  • Able to work remotely with access to a high-speed internet connection and located in the United States or Puerto Rico.

PREFERRED:

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • Insurance industry experience preferably in the state reporting/filing field.
  • Experience with process improvement, automation, or technology‑enabled reporting solutions is a plus.
