Apply now Job no: 504717
Work type: Full Time Regular
Location: Remote
Categories: Information Technology

We’re looking for a Front-End Engineer who loves building fast, polished web experiences that make customers want to stick around. You’ll be hands-on improving performance (think quicker loads, lower bounce, better conversion) while crafting clean, accessible UI with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript—and partnering with the wider team to turn ideas into features that ship.

You’ll also get to flex beyond the browser by working with PHP-backed services and APIs, helping us push more logic into the right place, improve resilience with solid error handling, and keep things maintainable through reusable components and smart automation. If you’re excited about making real product impact (including upcoming work like bringing customer reviews into the experience to build trust), you’ll fit right in.

This is a key role in shaping our public-facing web experiences, including the MutualofOmaha.com marketing and individual life pages. From improving page speed and conversion to launching new features like customer reviews that build trust, your work will directly influence how customers engage with our brand.

  • 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Work-life balance with vacation, personal time and paid holidays. See our benefits and perks page for details.
  • Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:

  • Build and maintain high-quality, responsive web experiences using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Optimize site performance to improve load times, reduce bounce rates, and increase conversion

  • Integrate front-end experiences with PHP-backed services and APIs
  • Help evolve our architecture by pushing logic to the right layer (front end vs. back end)

  • Contribute to tooling, automation, and development workflows that keep the team efficient

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • Strong experience building modern front-end applications with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript
  • Experience building back-end applications with PHP
  • A passion for performance, accessibility, and user experience
  • Experience working with APIs and integrating front-end with back-end systems
  • Familiarity with PHP or willingness to work across the stack when needed
  • A product mindset—you care about outcomes like engagement and conversion, not just code
  • Ability to collaborate across disciplines and communicate technical concepts clearly
  • Attention to detail and pride in crafting polished, user-friendly interfaces
  • You promote a culture of diversity and inclusion, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
