Mutual of Omaha Insurance Company has an immediate full-time opening for a Lead Financial Analyst in our Statutory Reporting and Analysis department. This role is critical to ensuring the accuracy, integrity, and compliance of statutory financial reporting while advancing process improvements and innovation across the statutory reporting function. This role requires an experienced, self-motivated, and results-oriented accountant who will lead projects and technical analyses, provide ongoing coaching and mentorship to team members, and ensure high-quality, compliant reporting. This role actively supports change, innovation, and continuous learning, while embracing interactive feedback and adhering to finance policies, procedures, and internal controls.

- Estimated Salary: $105,000-$118,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.

WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Review statutory financial statements and other regulatory filings for one or more insurance companies.
- Provide ongoing, structured coaching and mentorship to less experienced staff throughout the full lifecycle of statutory financial statements, regulatory filings, and related projects, developing the team’s technical knowledge and capabilities.
- Own the tracking, assessment, and communication of NAIC Blanks Working Group exposures and adopted changes; coordinate evaluation and follow through to confirm appropriate implementation, as applicable.
- Lead and execute projects, processes, and analyses – identifying trends, risk, and insights; deliver actionable recommendations, process improvements, and innovative solutions, including automation and AI, to support business decisions.
- Research and document complex technical accounting and reporting issues, develop conclusions, and communicate recommendations to business partners.
- Collaborate effectively while building strong relationships with business partners.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 6+ years of professional experience in public accounting, external reporting, corporate accounting, or regulatory environment.
- Expert attention to detail and follow-up, analytical acumen, and organizational skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple competing priorities.
- Effective communication skills across verbal, non-verbal, and written formats, with the ability to tailor content and approach to diverse audiences and provide constructive coaching and feedback.
- Demonstrated ability to provide ongoing mentorship and develop less experienced team members, building technical knowledge and capabilities over time.
- Self-driven with advanced ability to manage ambiguity and influence change across peers, management, and business partners.
- Demonstrates a growth mindset through experimentation with new tools and ideas.
- You promote a collaborative culture, value different ideas and opinions, and listen courageously, remaining curious in all that you do.
- Remote Finance employees outside of the Omaha area must have the ability to travel occasionally (approximately 5–10% annually) to attend Finance and Actuarial events (travel reimbursed per our T&E policy).
- Local Finance employees are expected to be in the office more than 50% of the time beginning Q2 2027.
- Local Finance employees are expected to be in the office for key business activities and critical in-person events, as determined by their manager.

PREFERRED:
- Bachelor's degree in accounting or equivalent experience in an accounting-related field.
- Experience with SOVOS annual statement software, Wdesk, SSAS, Power BI and PeopleSoft.
- Experience in the insurance industry, with familiarity with statutory accounting and reporting requirements.
- CPA or equivalent certification is a plus.
