Calling all innovation strategists, transformation leaders, and creative problem solvers: Mutual of Omaha is seeking a seasoned Business Analyst to help identify, evaluate, and advance innovative ideas and emerging technologies that improve how work gets done.
We are looking for someone who can connect business strategy, customer and employee needs, and emerging capabilities to meaningful opportunities. This person will partner across technical and nontechnical teams to explore ideas, assess use cases, shape experiments and pilots, reimagine business processes, and help promising innovations to move toward measurable outcomes.
Success in this role requires broad knowledge of the emerging-technology landscape—including artificial intelligence, Generative AI, large language models, intelligent automation, advanced analytics, and other evolving capabilities—along with the judgment to determine where those technologies may or may not add value. The right candidate can translate possibilities into practical experiments, informed recommendations, and business improvements without needing to be the technical expert who designs or builds the solution.
WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:
- Estimated Salary:
- Business Systems Analyst III: $75,000 - $83,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
- Business Systems Consultant I: $83,000 - $95,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
- 401(k) plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
- Work-life balance with vacation, personal time and paid holidays. See our benefits and perks page for details.
WHAT YOU'LL DO:
- Identify, evaluate, and prioritize innovation opportunities that address business needs, improve operational efficiency, strengthen customer or employee experiences, and support strategic goals.
- Explore emerging capabilities such as artificial intelligence, large language models, intelligent automation, advanced analytics, and other technologies to understand their relevance, limitations, readiness, and potential business value.
- Partner across the organization with business leaders, subject matter experts, product teams, architects, engineers, data professionals, risk partners, and vendors to connect business problems with appropriate capabilities and expertise.
- Shape and facilitate innovation work using approaches such as discovery, design thinking, process reimagining, hypothesis development, prototyping, experimentation, and pilot planning.
- Guide ideas from exploration to informed decisions by defining success measures, gathering feedback and evidence, assessing feasibility and risks, documenting recommendations, and supporting adoption or transition when an innovation is ready to advance.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING:
- 3+ years of relevant experience in innovation, business analysis, digital transformation, product discovery, process improvement, technology adoption, or a related area, with demonstrated success turning ambiguous opportunities into actionable recommendations or initiatives.
- Broad knowledge of emerging technologies, including artificial intelligence, Generative AI, large language models, automation, and analytics, with the curiosity and judgment to explain their capabilities, constraints, readiness, and potential business applications.
- Experience evaluating and advancing opportunities by clarifying business problems, defining intended value and success measures, assessing options and feasibility, and shaping practical recommendations, experiments, pilots, or roadmaps.
- Strong facilitation, analytical, and communication skills with the ability to navigate ambiguity, bring diverse perspectives together, translate complex topics into clear business recommendations, and engage the appropriate technical, privacy, security, compliance, ethics, accessibility, and risk experts.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Information Systems, Innovation, Design, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Engineering, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
PREFERRED:
- Experience facilitating innovation workshops, design-thinking activities, discovery sessions, or structured problem-solving exercises.
- Experience designing or supporting proofs of concept, prototypes, experiments, pilots, or technology evaluations and using evidence to recommend whether to stop, refine, scale, or transition the work.
- Experience partnering with Product, Architecture, Engineering, Data, Information Security, Legal, Compliance, Risk, or external technology partners.
- Practical experience with artificial intelligence, large language models, AI assistants or copilots, intelligent automation, advanced analytics, or another emerging technology.
- Experience supporting adoption and business changes in insurance, financial services, healthcare, or another highly regulated industry.
