Mutual of Omaha is seeking a Portfolio Manager to join our growing Investment Management team, a talented group of 80+ investment professionals entrusted with managing the company’s investment portfolio of over $40 billion.  This role contributes to the build out and enhancement of derivatives capabilities while working closely with senior stakeholders.  You will consult in business product development as well as portfolio risk modification strategies.  You will contribute to the growth and profitability of corporate invested assets through development, implementation and successful execution of strategic portfolio construction and tactical positioning strategies.

  • Estimated Salary (Levels have variable responsibilities and qualifications) 
      • Portfolio Manager - Derivatives: $123,000 - $209,000, plus annual bonus opportunity

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Contribute to the development, monitoring, and execution of derivative strategy across all asset classes and product types.
  • Work closely with broader portfolio management team to develop Asset Liability Management (ALM) annuities and balance sheet risk macro hedge programs.
  • Contribute to the design and implement derivative strategies for hedging, replication, and income generation purposes.
  • Collaborate and assist with the management of derivative hedge programs to improve hedge performance and ALM risk management.
  • Price and ensure the best execution in a variety of derivative and option contracts.
  • Ensure compliance with all legal contracts, regulatory requirements, and internal risk controls.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • A minimum of 7 years of experience in derivatives trading or portfolio management with at least 3 years of experience in developing and executing derivative strategies
  • Bachelor's degree, preferably in a field requiring strong analytical and quantitative skills such as Mathematics, Actuarial, Finance, Engineering, Computer Science, or Financial Engineering
  • Knowledge of ALM, derivative pricing, financial market liabilities and risk management
  • An understanding of relevant insurance capital, regulatory and accounting standards
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills; proven success in establishing and maintaining relationships with internal and external business partners.

PREFERRED:

  • Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).
  • Knowledge of hedge accounting utilized for both asset and liability hedges within the life insurance space.
  • Direct experience hedging indexed universal life and/or fixed indexed annuity insurance products.
  • Experience with Bloomberg AIM and Bloomberg MARS.
  • Programming knowledge and experience with Python and SQL.
