Sr CI/CD Platform Engineer (Engineer II/III)

Join our DevSecOps & CI/CD team to engineer and evolve the enterprise software delivery platform that enables teams to build, test, secure, and deploy code quickly and reliably. Our team owns GitHub and the pipeline that scans, builds, and packages code, stores it in Artifactory, and deploys it to AWS, Kubernetes, and MuleSoft environments. Our customers are Mutual of Omaha’s own development teams. In addition to core platform services like GitHub, Artifactory, and SonarQube, this role will help shape the next generation of developer enablement through AI-assisted workflows, GitHub Copilot capabilities, and emerging agent-based automation patterns.

We are hiring at the Engineer II or Engineer III level based on experience.

WHAT WE CAN OFFER YOU:

  • Estimated Salary - Engineer II or III: $125,000 - $145,000, plus annual bonus opportunity.
  • 401k plan with a 2% company contribution and 6% company match.
  • Work-life balance with vacation, personal time and paid holidays.
  • Applicants for this position must not now, nor at any point in the future, require sponsorship for employment.

This role is classified as remote; however, periodic in-person attendance will be required at times for activities such as quarterly or project planning, training, or other business-critical meetings

WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Build, maintain, and improve the enterprise CI/CD platform, including GitHub, GitHub Actions, JFrog Artifactory and Xray, and code scanning.
  • Design and implement automated, self-service solutions that increase developer throughput and improve the developer experience.
  • Support internal development teams by troubleshooting pipeline issues and resolving CI/CD requests.
  • Take part in the team’s on-call rotation, about one week every four to six weeks. During your on-call week you are the first point of contact for pipeline-related production incidents, which can include after-hours pages.
  • Deliver assigned Jira stories as part of an Agile team, including daily scrums, sprint planning, and PI planning.
  • Help evaluate and adopt AI-assisted development and agent-based automation for the platform.

WHAT YOU’LL BRING:

  • 5+ years in DevOps/software engineering with hands-on experience building, managing, and maintaining CI/CD pipelines, not only using them; strong coding fundamentals (TypeScript, Python, Java, or similar).
  • Proven experience in designing and architecting scalable platforms and solutions, with a strong understanding of system design principles, security, and reliability.
  • A development-focused background. This role sits close to code, so we value engineers who write software over those focused mainly on cloud infrastructure.
  • Experience with modern AI-assisted software engineering tools such as GitHub Copilot, IDE agent workflows, or similar developer productivity tooling.
  • Familiarity with applying AI to engineering use cases such as code generation, repository analysis, dependency cleanup, documentation generation, and pull request assistance.
  • Ability to evaluate emerging AI/agent patterns pragmatically, balancing productivity, security, governance, and operational supportability.
  • Deep GitHub/GitHub Actions expertise: workflow orchestration, reusable actions, OIDC/secrets, environments, policies, and security best practices.
  • Infrastructure as Code: practical experience with Ansible or Terraform; familiarity with cloud/container orchestration and deployment workflows.
  • Willingness to participate in an on-call rotation, including occasional after-hours support during your on-call week.

PREFERRED:

  • Experience with Gradle or similar build tools.
  • Experience with JFrog Artifactory, Xray, or SonarQube.
  • Hands-on experience with GitHub Copilot, Copilot Coding Agent, agent mode, custom instructions, or related AI developer platform capabilities.
  • Experience establishing team standards, guardrails, or enablement content for AI-assisted development workflows.
  • Familiarity with integrating AI capabilities into enterprise developer platforms and CI/CD ecosystems.
  • Hands-on experience with observability: implementing monitoring, logging, and tracing solutions for CI/CD pipelines and platform services.
  • Exposure to AI-assisted software engineering and agentic development workflows within enterprise developer platforms or CI/CD ecosystems.
  • Cloud-native application experience: building, deploying, or supporting microservices and containerized workloads on platforms like AWS and Kubernetes.

We value diverse experience, skills, and passion for innovation. If your experience aligns with the listed requirements, please apply!
