Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. Horry -Georgetown Technical College is seeking a dedicated Clinical Medical Assistant Instructor to join our dynamic Allied Health Workforce Development team. As a Clinical Medical Assistant instructor, you will play a crucial role in providing high-quality healthcare services to our diverse student population. This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to the well-being and success of our students while gaining valuable experience in a collegiate healthcare setting.

Responsibilities:

• Planning and developing curriculum for medical assistant programs.
• Creating lesson plans and teaching methods for medical assistant courses.
• Teaching specified subjects in the medical assistant curriculum to ensure students’ comprehension.
• Providing classroom instruction, lab work, and clinical practice.
• Teaching medical clinical skills, including procedures, techniques, and best practices.
• Covering topics related to anatomy, terminology, and healthcare practices.
• Assessing student learning and progress in medical assistant courses.
• Providing constructive feedback to help students improve their skills.
• Preparing students for national certification exams by ensuring they have a solid understanding of medical assisting principles.
• Offering hands-on clinical training to students, allowing them to apply theoretical knowledge in real-world settings.
• Supervising students during clinical rotations and ensuring they follow proper procedures.

Commensurate with education and experience. 

• Must obtain RN license 
• High school diploma or equivalent required; completion of a medical assisting program preferred.
• Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.
• Prior experience working in a clinical setting, preferably in a college health center or primary care setting.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate effectively with patients, families, and colleagues.
• Proficiency in basic medical terminology, patient assessment, and clinical procedures.
• Knowledge of electronic health record systems and basic computer skills.
• Ability to multitask, prioritize responsibilities, and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
• Commitment to maintaining patient confidentiality and upholding ethical standards of healthcare practice.
• Certified Medical Assistant Instructors should have a comprehensive understanding of healthcare practices.
• Excellent teaching skills are essential to effectively convey information to students.
