Job Description:

Horry-Georgetown Technical College (HGTC) is a two -year community/technical college that offers more than 75 associate degree, diploma, and certificate programs for students who are either seeking quick entry into the workforce or desiring to transfer to a senior institution to pursue a bachelor’s degree. HGTC offers three convenient campus locations in South Carolina, including Myrtle Beach, Conway and Georgetown.

Horry-Georgetown Technical College seeks a fulltime Dental Hygiene instructor. The instructor is accountable to the department chair for the fulfillment of his or her function, responsibilities, authority and relationships, and for their proper interpretation. The instructor may assign to members of the organization appropriate portions of his or her responsibility together with corresponding authority for their fulfillment, but may not delegate or relinquish his or her responsibility. The selected candidate will be responsible for the following duties (this list is not intended to be exhaustive). 

  • Preparing lesson plans for classroom instruction
  • Developing program syllabi, goals and objectives
  • Evaluating students’ progress in attaining goals and objectives
  • Developing and implementing plans to improve student success rate of end-of-course exit examinations
  • Maintaining program certification requirements, as appropriate
  • Preparing and maintaining all required documentation and administrative reports
  • Maintaining knowledge of current trends and developments in the field by attending staff development training, workshops, seminars and conferences
  • Ensuring safety and security requirements are met in the training area
  • Meeting with students, staff members, and other educators to discuss students’ instructional programs and other issues impacting the progress of students
  • Providing academic advisement to students

Duties include a flexible schedule of lecture, student advisement and registration.  Must be willing to work split teaching shifts that might require split teaching days between multiple campus locations.  Must fully embrace the responsibility for maintaining an acceptable number of students within related programs.

Advertised Salary:

Salary is commensurate with education and work experience. Benefits include paid state holidays, annual and sick leave.

Minimum Requirements:

Bachelor’s Degree RDH (RDH/CDA and Master degree preferred); three (3) years clinical experience beyond the degree and three (3) years teaching experience; licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of South Carolina.
