The Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (Ahpra) works in partnership with 15 National Boards to implement the national regulatory scheme for health professionals. The purpose of health practitioner regulation is to protect the public by ensuring that only health practitioners who have the skills, qualifications and knowledge to provide safe care are registered. 

The Senior Policy and Project Officer supports the Executive Officer and in turn, the Podiatry Board of Australia with a key focus on the governance, policy, and project work, the implementation of recommendations from the Independent review of the regulation of podiatric surgeons.  

This is a full time fixed term (12 months) position and is open to all Ahpra locations.  

 In this role you will: 

  • Provide strategic, evidence-based advice on regulatory and governance matters, and lead development and implementation of regulatory standards, policies, and guidelines.
  • Manage stakeholder engagement and support the delivery of the Board’s regulatory plan with policy, project, and governance oversight.
  • Coordinate effective consultation with stakeholders to inform policy development and assess regulatory impacts,
  • Provide strong governance support to the Board, committees, and advisory groups by coordinating well-organised meetings and preparing high-quality agenda papers and outcomes.
  • Foster cross-organisational collaboration to align Board initiatives with broader regulatory priorities and maintain trusted relationships with Board and committee members, ensuring transparency and accountability.

As the ideal candidate, you will demonstrate the following: 

  • Relevant qualifications or experience in regulation, policy, project management, or a related field.
  • Experience developing policy advice, ideally in a regulatory or public sector setting.
  • Strong understanding of governance and regulatory processes, with experience supporting Boards or committees.
  • Proven project management skills, including planning, delivery, and risk management.
  • Ability to interpret and apply legislation, policies, and procedures, and strong analytical, problem-solving, and written communication skills.
  • Excellent stakeholder engagement and relationship-building skills, with the ability to work collaboratively.
  • Experience providing high-quality secretariat support in a governance context is highly regarded
