About Our ELC's 

Catholic Archdiocese of Canberra and Goulburn Education Limited (CACGEL) operates 56 schools acorss the ACT and NSW and nine Ealty Leaning Centres (ELCs) in the ACT.

CACGEL currently has vacancies across ELC Teacher Director vacancies at two centres:

  1. Holy Spirit ELC , Nicholls; and
  2. Holy Family ELC, Gowrie.

CACGEL is seeking expressions of interest from suitably qualified ELC Teacher Directors and may use this process to fill subsequent vacancies over the next two years.  Applicants interested in being considered for a position as ELC Teacher Director are encouraged to apply.

Holy Spirit ELC , Nicholls

Holy Spirit Early Learning Centre (ELC) aims to provide all children with a learning environment that is play-based, engaging, respectful, and developmentally appropriate. Based on the Australian National Early Years Learning Framework (EYLF) curriculum, each child is enabled to begin their journey of being lifelong learners and responsible global citizens. Rated 'Exceeding' against the National Quality Standards, the ELC offers a dedicated preschool program for 4-year-old children prior to entering Primary School.

Holy Family ELC, Gowrie

Holy Family Early Learning Centre (ELC) offers a nurturing, play-based program guided by the Early Years Learning Framework and inspired by Reggio Emilia principles. Serving children from nearby suburbs, the ELC focuses on developing each child’s identity, wellbeing, and learning through observation-led planning in thoughtfully designed indoor and outdoor spaces. Strong connections with families and Holy Family Primary School support smooth transitions and foster a welcoming community for early learners.

About the Role   

This position supports the implementation of the mission of Catholic education to provide high quality service and programs for children in the year before formal school. The ELC Teacher Director has leadership and overalll accountability of the operation of the ELC working collaboratively with the adjoining school's Principal to ensure smooth transition of pre-school children into the kindergarten cohort.

Key responsibilities

  • Plan and implement high quality, responsive early learning programs including the Early Years Religious Education Curriculum, using sound knowledge of early childhood development and educational principles, to meet the needs of groups and individual children
  • Lead employees to enhance and develop the knowledge, skills and understanding of the Early Years Learning Framework and NQS standards and provide every opportunity to achieve individually and as part of a high-performing team.

Qualifications and Eligibility

  • Bachelor of Teaching/Education or Master of Teaching
  • ACT Working with Vulnerable People (WWVP) registration
  • ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI) registration
