The Position:

The Mental Health Carer Respite Support Worker is responsible for the planning of respite activities for carers and care recipients and to facilitate respite groups to support individuals, carers and families in the context of their community. The program is funded by the Department of Health to provide planned respite opportunities / activities for carers and adult consumers 18-65 years living with a mental illness. Programs are delivered within a recovery-focused framework.  The position is based in Swan Hill or Mildura with extensive regional travel required as part of the role.

Qualifications:

  • A relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Psychology, Nursing and/or related behavioural science degree with relevant experience
  • Associate diploma with substantial experience

 

To Be Successful in this Position You Will Need:

  • A commitment to, and experience in, working from a client-centered, solution-focused philosophy
  • Knowledge and understanding of mental illness and the impact on care recipients, carers/ families 
  • Demonstrated ability to undertake assessments and to work collaboratively with carer's and care recipients to develop flexible respite plans. 
  • Experience in planning, facilitating and evaluating individual service plans and group programs
  • The ability to develop and sustain partnerships and relationships with carers, care Recipients, families and professionals, with a range of age, gender and cultural groups. 

 

The important stuff:

  • Salary starts at around $97,377 plus super plus salary packaging (Level 5 SCHADS)
  • Part Time, 3 days per week- Ongoing position.
  • Pro rata the above salary in line with 22.8 hours.
  • Extensive travel throughout Mildura, Buloke and Gannawarra LGA's
